Non-Alcoholic Whiskey Alternative for Mocktails | “WHISKEY” TASTING

I'm on the hunt for the best non alcoholic whiskey. Today we're tasting whiskey alternatives... I gotta be honest, this was not the most pleasant tasting I've done. For those of you just joining me, I am a whiskey lover. Bourbon specifically. I like it neat, I like it in cocktails. I bake with it, I shake with it. I' feel like I'm the freaking Dr Seuss of Bourbon, so I really REALLY want this to work... but the bar is pretty high.
For those of you who are not drinking, but still love a spirit forward cocktail, "mocktails" can be tough. But for so many reasons, I am SO behind you on this. I think cocktails are social and celebratory, and if the absence of a cocktail makes someone feel isolated, I want to immediately change that so everyone feels welcome. So we're going to see if we can make mocktails better, or at least closer to those prohibition era sippers so many of us love.
This video is about two different whiskeys for mocktails: Spiritless Kentucky 74, and Ritual Whiskey Alternative. I'd LOVE to hear if you guys have recommendations for other brands, as these were not at all what I expected (or hoped for).

LOL. Love this! We have 2 bottles of 0%ABV "whiskies" manufacturers sent us for free many months ago but have been putting off this episode because we are dreading it too. LOL. Ironically, we agreed 2 days ago to finally shoot it next week. Cool episode and honest!

So hard, because these alternatives are literally not alcohol. They are night and day. Not the same product. I do appreciate the effort though. Because with more effort and competition, at some point, someone will nail it. Let’s keep hoping. Happy new year Jess. Cheers!

Exactly- no one should go into these expecting the same experience as whiskey. But, these two particular bottles were so far from whiskey that it really made me wondered if they had whiskey lovers test them before going to market. It’s kinda bonkers. But I’m curious to do the cocktail test- maybe that will change my opinion!

my experience is that Ritual tastes like BBQ sauce and 74 tastes like watered down alcohol

Agree. It just feels like they might be trying a little too hard. Or maybe they're not trying hard enough? Reminds me of that scene in Forgetting Sarah Marshal'... "do LESS... well, I mean, you have to do more than THAT". LOL!

Smells like Band-aids... followed by "This is not unpleasant"... hmm... I decided to give up giving up alcohol, so this doesn't really apply to me, but like you, we host a lot and I have sober friends and friends who should be sober... For some, it would be nice to give them something realistic... For the ones in the program over a decade, they have zero care about anything tasting like alcohol and just don't mind mixing some juices I have.
