You asked an explanation for the songs so here goes... when getting into anything bts, the best thing to do is to listen to entire albums at once. Because without the albums what you are lacking is proper context for the meaning of the songs and where they fit in on a members musical journey. So you will have a hard time fully appreciating the songs and their meaning. Widlflower is from Indigo. RMs 3rd music project and his official debut album. Its very different from his first mixtape RM and his second project Mono. If RM is anger and Mono is depression, Indigo is about finding peace with yourself. Ddeulkkotnori is a made up word by rm. Its a combination flower and firework... resulting in the word flowerwork which represents his desire to live away from the shackles of fame and be like a wildflower that lives forever. Amygdala is from D-day. Agust d's 3rd and final part of the agust d trilogy. All three projects, AGUSTD, D2 AND DDAY have several autobiographical songs and Amygdala comes at the end of that list. Amygdala is a small almond shaped part of the brain that processes and stores trauma or unpleasant experiences to use them later for survival purposes. So the song is autobiographical. The video shows sugas accident which happened during predebut when he worked as a delivery driver. He damaged his shoulder and had chronic pain for about 9 years before he could get surgery for it. He also talks about his parents. On the street by jhope feat jcole is a single he released before going into the military. Its was released after his debut album Jack in the Box. J.cols is jhope's muse and inspiration. Jhope started listening to jcole when he was 15 and living as a trainee with rm and suga. His first mixtape title Hope world is a reference to Cole world. Jhope also shout outs jcole in the song 'HipHop phile' by BTS. The "on the street" title refers to a series of vlives called Hope on the steet where jhope shows off his street dancing. So on the street is also a prelude to his upcoming documentary series about dancing which is also called Hope on the Street. So the song is 1. a shout out to his dancing origins 2. A tribute to his musical inspiration jcole 3. A farewell to army before leaving for the military. Closer than this is a fan song by jimin before he left for the military. Face is his official debut album that was released right before this. BTS have a lot of fan songs that they release, most of them actually for free. There isnt more to say about it. Anyone who is a an ARMY will get the songs sentiment. The Astronaut is jins debut single released right before he went into the military. So its written for the fans. Its a collaboration with Coldplay. Coldplay and BTS have made a song before called My universe. Jin reached out to coldplay to ask them to make a song which he can give to the fans. He wrote all the korean parts and added a trot vocal style to the song The video and song shows jin as an alien wanderer that crash landed on earth which represents bts and music, where he found army represented by the little girl. So he decides to stay on earth. Jin used to study acting before he suddenly got street casted and was convinced to join bts by bighit. So he didnt know much about making music in the beginning. But he slowly found happiness in it which is why he is here for both bts and army. Jin also performed the astrnaut live at Coldplays concert in Argentina. Jin has released self made songs on soundcloud before this. He will release an official debut album after he comes back from the military. Standing next to you is from jungkook's debut full english album Golden. He is the only member to debut with a full english album. The album is basically his exploration of different types of pop music. And standing next to you is very obviously a reference to the genre done by micheal jackson. Scenery is an older song by V which was released on soundcloud. Before they all had official debuts, these types of songs could only be found on Soundcloud. They are self made and free gifts to fans. All their mixtapes and singles like this are all free. V's first self made track was 4 oclock written with rm and scenery is his first solo track and the songs soundscape shows his interest in photography. V likes jazz, and piano so you can see how this connects to Layover.

Just some addendums to your excellent explanation: RM would like to finish his career as a "flowerwork", it means, not just disappearing in the air after illuminating the sky, like fireworks, but losing his brightness with time until reposing on earth calmly. Did you notice the different fireworks he was under? He wants his end to be something like this. The amygdala is our mental health savior. It keeps strong, intense situations that could get us crazy, it hides all our traumas. The best therapy or better, the only way to empty this room is forcing our mind to review any single experience kept there, and that's what Agust D / Suga was doing. J-Hope was part of a winning dancing group called Neuron, before becoming a BTS member. He dances to JCole songs a lot during that time. In this song, he left his idol and role model to be the main character while he danced, like in the past. If you pay attention to the sequence, after dancing, he traveled a lot and was getting higher and higher until he was at the same level as his idol.

You had a pretty big variety of songs here and remember that even as soloists they show alot of diversity beyond the amazing songs you picked. If you havent watched The Guide to BTS Members by Taylor Mari, you should its got over a million views for a reason even if it was only accurate to May 2022. Its frankly a ridiculously impressive amount of solo projects. RM - 2 mix tapes and 1 solo album plus so many collabs Jin - One solo song The Astronaut with Coldplay, his album is due after he gets out of the military this summer, so after June maybe late fall/winter Suga/AgustD - 2 mix tapes and 1 solo album and a ton of collabs Jhope - 1 mix tape, and 1 solo album. He has a second solo album he recorded over a year ago that will be out in March Jimin - 1 solo Ep and a few collabs V - 1 solo Ep and a collab Jungkook - 1 solo album and has a few collabs So even without the 20+ albums of BTS the solos are a huge discography but all of it is worth diving into.

Very few Americans understand how multi genre and diverse BTS group work is. They have some of the most scathing social commentary in lyrics. They use their lyrics to promote healing and self love. The happy poppy pop songs post covid were meant to cheer the world up. You will find all 7 have different musical identies and their solo songs that run alongside BTS group work is also diverse. As they have influenced each other to be experimental collaborative and incredibly creative. They all have degrees they took whilst working and several have completed masters. This is a quite a cerebral group. Do not be fooled some of their catchiest tunes with the most hilarious choreography hides their most scathing social criticism. Though you need DKDKTV explaination to understand how brilliant a song like BAEPSAE is. This is not a fair representation of J Hope as J Cole is his hero and he hands him the song. He is The perfect collaborative foil. Instead try MORE or ARSON to learn how hard J Hope can hit. Also Closer than this was a goodbye to his fans who understand every line. A better for one for you would be SERENDIPITY, SET ME FREE, or LIKE CRAZY.

Suga's song Amygdala is a medical word for part of the brain where we process strong emotions. Jhope did a solo concert at Lolapaloosa, Chicago nearly 2 years ago and he met J Cole there. Jhope had always looked up to J Cole since he started rapping. Jin plays an astronaut crashed on earth waiting to be rescued. He learns to love the little girl (Army) then he sees rescue has come for him, but at the end he can't leave Army. This song was a collab with Coldplay before he went to enlist, he was the first member of BTS to go, because he was the eldest and his time was running out.

BTS is not the poppy vapid lyric music that is perceived to be. much of it requires history, word play, social commentary, visual clues, research - there is so much and there are LAYERS of symbolism and meaning in almost everything they do. it requires sleuthing to understand the full depth - and even then it is still open to individual interpretation. Amygdala is a part of the human brain - shaped like an almond, being amygdala the Greek name for almond - part of a larger network in the brain called the limbic system. When it comes to survival, amygdala and limbic system are extremely important. These are parts of the brain that automatically detect danger. They also play a role in behavior, emotional control and learning. This specific song is the final part of a trilogy, started with the song "Daechwita" from his second mixtape D-2, continued with his song "Haegeum" and ended with "Amygdala", both from his latest album "D-Day". These 3 songs could symbolize his own journey and conflicts within himself, and they are incredibly personal. There is an interesting video by DKDKTV channel explaining Daechwita MV. Amygdala not only depicts his struggles with actual pain after his accident during trainee days, but also his struggles with depression and OCD he had in the past.

The little girl is ARMY and the same age as the fandom. Jin is the alien astronaut. It's another promise that hes coming back to ARMY. A better song for V to show his range is SINGULARITY. V can belt and go from a beautiful baritone to a soulful falsetto.

I agree with you. I also find reading comments about the MV helps. Sometimes you find out about the setting and what was going on in that time in life. I remember reading a comment about Haegeum and the area where it was shot. You could also look into the meaning of certain songs/mv. Sometimes info comes from the artist or another source. If you are going to pick songs for individual members look at when they were released. It's ok if you don't like Scenery, I happen to love it. His recent music has a different feel to and I'm loving it. What he just released is so him.
