Vegito purposely got absorbed so he could free Goten, Trunks, Gohan, and Piccolo who have all been absorbed by Buu already. That's why the fight ended like that, heck, that is why there is a fight at all. At any time Vegito could have just destroyed Buu, he was vastly more powerful than the Majin. He was just trying to anger Buu to the point where Buu would absorb him.

You should do Cooler vs Goku next, It's from a movie, but It's easy to find on KZbin, there's multiple parts to this fight: 1. Cooler vs Goku 2. Cooler (Final Form) vs Goku 3. Cooler (Final Form) vs Super Saiyan Goku Part 2 is the most iconic one, Cooler absolutely beats the brakes off Goku, in my opinion, it's one of the biggest asswhoopings he ever took.

It's because of the two times Vegito has appeared, he's gotten shafted and hasn't actually finished off any of his opponents, despite having the power to do so. Gogeta is cocky as fuck but we've at least seen him back it up completely. Vegito on the other hand always gets some bullshit like the fusion ending early, etc. TLDR: Vegito gets treated like Vegeta, Gogeta gets treated like Goku
