I would go with Nisargadatta on this one (and the freedom of a little adding/misquoting of it, by myself): "Knowing that you're nothing is wisdom, and knowing that you're everything is love. Knowing/realizing/experiencing both simultaneously is the ultimate non-duality".

The KZbin algorithm brought me here after watching this crazy Taiwanese horrorfilm bout a malevolent deity, “incantation” on netflix, so Im not really into spirituality, although I did click on this video. And while I tried to understand this non-duality concept - I found many aspects of it similar to many insights in modern day epistemology (how we can know the world) and ontology (what exist in this world)- I also frowned a little bit when I heard what he said in the video; and also when I read your comment. Like take the observation that ones self is constructed, fictional, subjective, only is and sees part of the whole and then you say “ that self is fake so actually I am nothing” now comes in mind the famous deliberation of Decartes and we take a look at the “I” in that sentence. The implict statement that there is an “I” which does the thinking and the observation that that “I” is in fact “nothing”, which is a characteristic of this “I”. On itself a paradoxical statement,as all somethings which are nothing are automatically something, namely something that is nothing. Thusly nothing can not exists, for the act or mere existence would make it something. Other way round you could say that this the reason why nothing can exist. It is the only thing that is nothing, for if nothing was something, namely something which is nothing which we all do in fact believe that it is we would have this crazy paradoxical conundrum.😂 damn In one way we could say that the construction, the self or the concept “nothing” are the fictions and everything outside of them is part of reality. Others say that reality is only in our head. The selves and the words, the meanings make up reality. Outside of humans there is nothing in the truest sense.not everything, not even nothing. It is not. There is not even an “it” to begin with. Only from our perspective. Others think differently. XD So to go by your example of this Nisargadatta person. He finds that if there is an I somewhere that thinks it is nothing, that somehow makes him wise? How can an I exist which is nothing, or how can there be an I which is nothing but at the same time wise. And then he goes further by concluding that because this I is a fiction he can be this paradoxical nothing, which erases him from existence, which leaves everything else. Now he says that because there is no I there is only everything. And I am a part of everything, the I that was labeled not existing only a second ago; so consequentlyI am everything; while before he was nothing, now he saying that he is the whole of everything because he is a part of everything. The whole time implicit that there is an I to begin with. It’s so nonsensical. I mean it’s constructed beautifully, of course. Nothing and everything coexisting in the same something. The duality, maybe even trinity in that sentence I mean. someone can be something and nothing at the same time and be part of everything while being nothing, because that nothing is characteristic of everything in the end. And I guess you could call this love, although I would’t. Nothing can’t love; nothing can’t. Nothing not even can’t nothing nothing 🎉 … Nothing = someting But nothing is at the same time the only thing that cant be something everything = nothing Something = nothing = everything But at the same time everything is something because Everything = the totality of somethings that have characteristics and differ from eachother, in human meaning systems I mean. It al contradicts. These struggles with dualistic concepts man. I mean his, Nisargadatta, and your interpretation of his statement are probably way different than mine and there is lots of context flying over my head . But his statement, build in with a dualistic element made me think about the problems that go with duality, so for this I thank you For I now have an headache, Jokes aside I’m in fact now in a different place of thought than then when I started this comment, so I actualy am greatful Maybe this is what a non dualist does? guess I should join u guys. Or maybe I’m way off and just to damn high. Man I don’t now. Go check that movie, bye

@@nickcarroll8565 You just said the same thing. We're all from the same set of system resources -- we're just put toward different tasks. Daemons in RHEL, or processes or tasks handled by an OS are just abstractions of the same sets of effort, put toward different goals. The clock cycles used for one service are the same as that for another, just perhaps a bit different in exact performance. Water in a body is no different fundamentally from water in a stream or on the dewy grass of a mountain peak. Some of it has likely been in a human at some point, and anything in us has definitely been in nature, or in another organism at some point in the past. Yet, from... or to... no matter where or who, that water is ultimately all the same.

There's this movie calleed "LUCY" with Scarlett Johanssen in the lead role that sums the whole thing up. The final resting duality helps us stay "in love" in line with bhakti / devotion for those who can't directly stomach unfamiliar Advaita experience. However, unlike Lucy's initial confusion in the movie, the cosmic Brahman is a state of bliss, rather than the emotionless resignation that Scarlett portrayed. Some of us experience such bliss in fair measure during meditative samaadhi states. For you, me and those who hold on and have trouble letting go. Until Mukti. Until Moksha. Devo. Jai Bhaarat.

It’s the fact that nature offers us a variety of ways to experience this non-dual experience through (I’ve heard, not experienced myself) deep meditation, psychedelics (which I have experienced myself), near death experiences that makes me believe there is a cosmic mind that wants to communicate with us.

I have followed Buddhist meditation practices for many years, and experienced the world as a peaceful dream. I had experiences of being guided by a benevolent spirit, and a deep connection with all life even before any knowledge of any religion, and I was an atheist. We often identify ourself with our body, name, nationality, religion, color but here's the catch....we identify ourself with these things, so it means we are something that is separate and different from these things and once we are free from these physical attributes, what remains is GOD AKA Superconsious and by that time, Our individual identity will be dissolved so we don't even exist (mean to say a person who identify himself with illusions and false images about himself), it is God who is experiencing the life through various different bodies Thank you for this video

Wonderful summary of non-dualism. As you mentioned there are various schools of non-dualism, but in the end, they all have to be one. My one suggestion would be - assuming the intent is to appeal to more than just followers of Vedanta, or even Hinduism in general - is to skip words like "Brahman" or "Maya", or any other Sanskrit technical terms unless there is no translation. Even those words don't exist in the final analysis, so why confuse people who might be new to all this? "Consciousness" and "illusion" are perfectly adequate words, in this example. My own experience has been, in this regard, that the less said the better.

Traditional teachings have been compromised by Zionism. So certain organizations have rotted from the inside like the great lions corpse.

Me and a friend had a long conversation about duality and nonduality. I tried explaining that nonduality could exist without duality because it does, but he thinks they coincide almost but not quite like Ying and yang. He acknowledges that nonduality is the entire symbol not just the two sides but said there would be no symbol without the duality meaning nonduality cannot be, and that's where I disagreed. What is so funny is when I was about 10 years old I was with my family and it was dark leaving a driveway "in the woods" that had a gate. I would get out and shut the gat and hang the rope around the top of the gate. I had a flashlight but I knew exactly where everything was so I didn't have it on. I reached to grab the rope and I thought it felt different. I stood there feeling it for about 4 or 5 seconds and then I turned on the flashlight and there was a small Garter Snake hanging from the rope. It didn't bite me, and my dad caught it and my sister was holding it and it bit her. Then we let it go. So everytime I hear this classic example of Maya I always laugh, because it is just so funny how things work out. We may see a snake where there's actually a rope...and sometimes it can even be a snake and a rope. Lol.

All is ONE - there is not two! But to experience this what do you do? For years I’ve given this lots of thought I’ve listened to speakers, to what they’ve taught. Then something hit me, right in the face, It’s all to do with what we call space! The universe is infinite - goes on forever you see. Hubble and James Watt give us pictures for free. Those photos are magic and pull at the heart Gazing at them is where you should start. There’s planets and stars and galaxies and such But that’s only 5 percent - which isn’t that much. The rest we ignore, which is our big mistake, Because we’re missing 95% of the cake! We all want harmony, oneness and love - The secret’s around us, down here not above! Yes the truth is staring us right in the face To experience ONENESS include the space! So make this your mission - your daily goal And with a permanent smile you’ll truly feel WHOLE! It’s all in the oneness (love’s the same thing) Get it in your heart and it will sing! The truth is staring you right in the face To experience ONENESS include the space!

@UClyvBwlcwTwkFM4WcgfpqeA I think it’s best described as a trap of language really, it’s language we use to separate ourselves from the world around us, the same way that it’s only through language that your surrounded by walls and doors and cushions, by applying different terms we create separation, the same way that attributing I and you to us separates us. Obviously, it’s not something that you can actually abandon; definitely not if you plan to take part in society which you definitely should do, but in meditation and clearing the mind occasionally you can remind yourself that the world we describe isn’t actually what is. And that can make everything a lot less stressful and a lot more joyful!

@@maxhutchinson6425 that makes a lot of sense actually, we can have a wooden floor and a wooden wall but look at them in quite seperate ways because of terms "floor" and "wall". I have a (hopefully) quick question. Non-duality says One is All. But then even an awareness of a deceptive thought is a direct awareness of the One. To say it is not is to either say there is something (I.e., a thought which is a real experienced phenomena) which is not the One, or to say that even if it is a direct experience of the One, it is not a direct experience in which we are cognitively aware of the Oness (lest we would not have such a deceptive thought). Any clarification would be great ❤

@@gismosfinalform2031 exactly. Which would of course imply that our thoughts, even the deceiving ones, are likewise essentially the ‘One’ and thus it would be (at least in principle) possible to come to full awareness of the One by observing even deceiving thoughts. This of course would mean we need not get “outside of thought”. A further question pops up though. If we mean by ‘awareness’ “the knowledge/understanding/recognition of something” then of course we must make use of concepts and thus thought is intrinsic to having an awareness of the One (not outside but necessarily within thought). If, rather, we mean by awareness the pure non-conceptual experience then this is achieved even in having a deceiving thought of the self but is merely not recognized (since this thought is essentially still ‘something’ and thus the One). There would have to be a middle path where there is clear cognitive recognition without the use of concepts but this is not possible (for something to have epistemic status it must be conceptually subsumed. See, e.g., the work of wilfred sellers).

I have come to see all teachings that are divisive in their nature as being unhelpful to the cause of enlightenment, what I mean is; if one teaching originates in a particular form, is that form true and if so, that it becomes followed by other forms which transpire from it and differentiate from the original form, does that not create further confusion in all of the forms produced? Whereby the "too many cooks spoil the broth" analogy comes into play and leaves everyone to constantly wonder... am I on the right track of the many tracks available or am I on the wrong track and wasting my time, energy and being to discover nothing in the end or at the least to be deluded? But I always wondered about this since the age of seven after being told by the Catholic church that it was the one and only true church with the one and only true teaching (which was obvious really) but at seven years old, what do you know? yet I asked myself the question, "if we were the one and only true church with the one and only true teaching, then why don't all the other church denominations join us and receive the true teaching?" that makes sense doesn't it? well it did to a seven year old. Ofcourse, you don't have answers at such a young age, so it took another 30 years when one day, that old question returned to me, (by this time, I'd long left the Catholic church) and on this occasion I figured out the answer (because my mind by this time was obviously fully developed enough to deal with it) which was that the reason the other Christian church denominations didn't join us to receive the true teaching was because they were teaching their children that they each were themselves the true church with the true teaching, voila! So the anomaly in all of this is that every denomination together was holding back the truth by their divisionalism, the ultimate example given in all religions that they're all in a dualistic cocoon that none of them can break away from due to their stubbornness in remaining in their individualist practices of the same order, so they effectively restrain their own beliefs from being active by their divisive continuity! something a seven year old can understand which they can't, that's a thought isn't it? So what belief system exists today that is not of a non dualistic teaching if they're all being dualistic via their teachings?
