Ah, yes, an "Immersive Open World Action RPG". I admit, we gamers don't always make it easy for newcomers to understand what the hell we're talking about. (To be fair though, it is a very efficient way of expressing a lot of the information that viewers of this video were likely looking for). "Immersive" is often just a buzzword used to make games sound more appealing but what it's meant to say is that this game makes you feel as if "you're there". As an extreme counter example, I don't think anyone would say they are "immersed" in the world of Tetris. "Immersive" implies a focus on portraying a believable world (often for storytelling) rather than just a barebones "stage" for the game mechanics. "Open World" means that you can more or less go whereever you want whenever you want. There might be some limitations and challenges but generally it allows you to explore a large area at your own pace. Other games could for example give you small areas one at a time for each chapter of the story. "RPG" means RolePlaying Game. It's a genre of games that's kinda hard to define without going into much detail on the game mechanics. The important part is that it implies a certain amount of freedom in how you play you character. Usually you have the ability to focus on a subset of your character's potential abilities (e.g. potions over spells), to choose and manage your character's equipment and belongings (armor, weapons, consumables) and to fulfill the tasks the game gives you in (more or less) any order you like. "Action RPG" just means that most things (especially combat and other challenges) happen in real time as opposed to a turn based system like in a tabletop RPG (e.g. DnD).

So you want a story first for example you are small gril who is very good in geometry and she live with a mother but one day bad cubic master kidnap mother and to free her gril must win 100 tetris tournament (Haha it was stupid but anyway), now open word: you have kindom of joy continent and to win this tournament you need no find it and get the acces in some cities in continent Is open word game so you can travel from begining whotever you want ,you can go directly to the end even but is also rpg so by talking with people in cities you can get some improvements for example abbility to call particular block (kind of spell) by talking some job(quest) from people. So you earn and choose some abilieties with change you initial build. Ok this was stupid but you get the idea i think . Now idea how story change. Keep in mind that I keep this super simple. In first town you meet boy that need help, you can help him, fight or go away. In the end of game he bad lord go to you with your mother but is conflicted and angry lol, this boy from first meeting appear and is lord son.if you helped him he convice his father to free your mother ,if you fight him he kill your mother. Is usualy much more complicated and story changes not in one moment but more, i really just want to show idea.

So its not really connected to Harry, its more "You are the Main Character of this story, have fun."

I am glad someone else shares my sentiment about wands, they seem a bit like a vulnerability as you stated. I my mind they just seem like a conduit to help a wizard focus their magic. We even see Harry capable of some magic before he even knew he was a wizard, like making the glass disappear in the snake room at the zoo in the first book/movie. Who is to say that the conduit needs to be a wand at all, it could be any other enchanted object, or not at all if the wizard has trained to sharpen their focus to levels higher than those who depend on a materialistic item to achieve similar levels of magic.

Hi. This game is planned for 2021 i belive and I read ,that autor didnt have to much influence (I the sense that she didnt make any game decisions etc) for the game. We dont know much but is looks interesting. Open word mean that litelary the word is open you are free to go and do what you want from begining of game (like in Witcher, Skyrim, Odysey etc). RPG is role playing, in the sense of game this mean that you kind of modelilng yourself.... you have skils tree *(spells, wepons etc) and you choose how to build your charakter , what is you speciality and things that you are weeker, quests that you want to take etc., and more. You will be also creating your own character in the begining. So diversity : check haha. You can usualy deal with npc (characters other than player ), as you want: create some enemies, friends etc. I just love rpg and im not a huge fan of HP (i read it and it was ok, but im jungle book and sekret garden genetation haha - Not that I born in 1894 hahaha but this books was popular when i was young) but I will play for sure if it will be good. Becouse is never enought good, open word, rpg games lol

Thanks for your thoughts. Always cool to hear them. Hogwarts is just the one school. There are others. I imagine they have a close knit financial eco system. As to the game, when I was working at Avalanche Studios (not to be confused with Avalanche Software - the makers of this game), for us, Open World meant if you see it you can go there and if you go there, you can interact with whatever you see. Hopefully this game takes a similar approach. Your excitement for a game you'll likely not play is awesome to see as a developer. We'll make a gamer of you yet! :-)

Well, about Hermione, I think that one point against JK when she said that Hermione was always biracial is that JK herself was deeply involved on the cast selection for the movies, even making requirements, like “all the actors must be british” (what actually does make sense), and so she, maybe, wouldn’t choose Emma Watson for the role. Of course, this is just a theory...

I wasn't expecting this today. I did enjoy it a lot though so thank you. That looks like a game I may have to check out when it is released. I'm afraid when all is said and done I'll be disappointed by it. I'll put big expectations on it that it will have no chance of living up to but that will be my fault lol. The late 1800's might mean that it takes place during Dumbledore's time at Hogwarts and maybe even a glimpse of his (romantic) relationship with Grindewald, which I think only happened during the very last parts of the 1800's. 8:30 I think the Hermione being mixed is head-canon combined with later Rowling retconing. TBH, her response to the fans during this part was one of the things that made me just give up on her, and I didn't care to begin with - This is because I'm nerdy enough (on some topics, a personality trait/quirk(?)) to discuss the facts etc. on some things so I'm pretty sure that some of the people she berated for being racists were sincerely just arguing the facts of what she'd written (or not written) and would have just been fine with her going: Yeah I changed my mind or this actor fit my image (or just a it's a theatre play guys, it doesn't matter) rather than trying to pretend that she'd stated things (or worse pretend that she never wrote some things, gaslighting anyone? ;) 9:38 Did they ever tell us why they decided to recast her role? 10:45 Pretty much. 21:21 Because people view different things as kind and give weight different things as either more or less important. E.G. I might not tell you that you have a spinach between your teeth (because it's not that important but I might warn you if you're about to put your foot in your mouth ;) - And what I consider to be spinach someone else might consider a foot (or a gun for all I know and thus do more than just warn) - E.G. Have you read everything she's written on the topic to try to understand her and to learn whether she's mean, "nice" but with another opinion (with a point-of-view that you either don't understand or just disagree with) or just misunderstood? Dumbledore and Grindelwald "getting busy" is technically incorrect. Dumbledor is gay and loved Grindelwald, while Grindelwald just respected Dumbledore. It's not mentioned or hinted that he felt the same or was homosexual himself. And even if he was, that would not automatically mean they were "getting busy". As far as we know now thats just false.

I've always been struck by the way people tell an author what's right and what's wrong... If authors wrote books, drew pictures, made movies and cartoons, created games, etc., based on the opinions of other people... It seems to me that this would no longer be the author's creation. Being an independent author in everything and going against all the canons is risky, but these are the people I can call truly creative, and not those who are led by social trends. I disagree with J. K. in many ways, but this is her book, her time and effort, and she has every right to write and do whatever she wants with it. Whether I like it or not. If it doesn't contradict the Canon. Just by the way... And I'm waiting for the game, very excited =). I want to be in Slytherin :D. I know, bad wizards. But only because bad wizards are always ambitious, which is why they actually take students to the Slytherin faculty. Ambitions.

The guy says you arrive as a 5th year...which would mean your character would have been chosen 5 years before...so as you develop your character when entering the game, you would be able to choose which House you were sorted into as a 1st year.

Gender expression or stereotypes are certanly not biological, but there's research to suggest that gender identity is, because sex hormones determine how your brain develops and thus how you view yourself, hence why trans people exist. Basically, you can have a male body but a "female brain" and vice versa.

Why should I care about other people's opinions? I'm more selfish in my wants and hobbies, I enjoy what I enjoy. If the opinion brought actual danger to my loved ones such as promote violence, slurrs and otherwise undermine their human rights THEN I might just consider a counterattack. That's right, as lazy (peace-loving) as people can be, they will attack when threatened but why waste energy when the opinion brings nothing new to the table and there are far more pressing social-justice issues around me. House: I always get a mixed house result in wizarding world, I feel and have gotten Slytherin quite often but I also relate to Hufflepuff a lot and I got Ravenclaw at least twice. (won't even mention Gryffindor cuz I don't like that house, as I said I'm more selfish and care more about me and mine than some fake chivalry, I'd rather be a Hufflepuff if anything). Honestly, I don't see the point of Gryffindor's house when Hufflepuff is just a better alternative and J.K. Rowling is in love with her trinity sets but I guess we needed the more peaceful/normal folk for a baseline of how everybody else is just crazy.

1800's is used to isolate the player from the modern story. You'll create your own character and the actions choices and characters you interact with will be relatively apart from the books. It's a chance for you to play your character in the harry potter world without impacting the lore of the story and JK Rowling's stuff. She created the universe but this game in a way is apart from that. Also Reacting to reactions or analysis videos is totally a thing. No worries.

I do think some her worries are far fetched and perhaps deserve a little backlash but I still don't understand the amount of hatred she's getting. She hasn't insulted anyone, she's pretty respectful in her comments and even if I don't agree with some of her views I don't think it warrants her being "cancelled".

Interesting point on seperating art from the artist. I think art should always be seen as its own entity, even though the artist probably poured their heart and soul into it. At the end of the day once the piece is finished, it has to stand on it's own. Because art touches every single one of us differently on a very personal level, in our very own way. The original intent of the artist (given they don't reveal it) is irrelevant for our own interpretation. A lot of the greatest art pieces were created by people who didn't agree with our modern values, that shouldn't devalue the artwork and its meaning to us. But hey as an art major, who couldn't find a job in that field and is now in finances..what do I know.. 😋❤️

@@HannaHsOverInvested if you are a fantasy fan and have read the likes of kingkiller chronicles, storm light archive, the wheel of Time series, the malazan series, a song of ice and Fire, Lotr and the like, Harry Potter does come across as very mediocre in the sense that the magic system isn't very good and there are a lot of plot conveniences :) Still a fun series to shut off your brain and read tho I know I had fun with it :)

@@HannaHsOverInvested well yes and no :) there are some who are snobs but most will just try to convert U to become one of them :) like for example when I say U have to read the wheel of Time series because Amazon is currently producing the tv series ATM and the storm light archive is one of the best fantasy series of all time xD Anyways most enjoy the Harry Potter series for what it is. It's probably on their top 10 but not in the top 5 I guess kinda thing If U look into the wheel of Time community on KZbin, they are actually very welcoming. Always looking to make another into one of them.... Or us I guess lol

I got a few friends who were amazed at what this game looks like, but just refuse to give any more $ to the Potter franchise. J.K. Rowling isn't directly involved, but she's still going to get many checks for it's sales :/ Once that connection is removed, as in the "bad person" no longer benefits from their creation, I think it's perfectly fine to still adore and support their creation. Good people can do bad things and bad people can do good things. It's ok to see those things for what they are, once they've been sufficiently "separated" from their creator.

In this case though, chances are JK Rowling was given a fat cheque years ago so they were allowed to make this game and at least a large majority of the profits will be going into the pockets of the publisher and developers. (Hopefully)

I feel like it's a bit of a gamble to put this game allmost 100 years before the events of the books, seeing as you'll most likely not encounter any of the characters you know and love (except for the ghosts, maybe, and they, besides Moaning Myrtle, in turn, weren't that heavily featured in the movies) from the universe, but i'm very excited for the game. Potter head in the house. Yeah the J.K Rowling controversy is very disappointing to me. I first thought she was trying to understand the trans community. But it just keeps getting worse and worse. I understand trying to understand Gender Identity is a tall task for us who are not trained in psychology but, that should not cause you to demonize, discriminate or be cruel to someone who is different. I grew up in the 1990s and my parents are still anti LGBT on the religious side😓. I try to educate them in their language why just having these views about anybody is a sin. Just try to be kind, understanding and accepting of people, religions, sexual orientation and more as long as it follows the rule of Do no harm. P.S on the less preachy side this should be your ‘intro to gaming’ game.

H.P. Lovecraft was super racist, and it is very noticeable in his writing. That said, I still love his works, and his universe building is still amazing. I just take into consideration what I know of him and remember his works are somewhat going to reflect that darker sides of him. This is how I separate his work from himself, even if he mellowed out later on in his life. We need to do the same with J.K. Unless her work becomes influenced by her views in a way that makes them, essentially, hateful. Nothing of what I ever read in Harry Potter, or any of the subsequent movies that came out, has ever seemed hateful or transphobic to me. Because it just isn't. Heck, even with the whole thing behind making Dumbledore gay after the fact, I didn't mind that. It didn't take or add anything to the character I already knew, and gave us enough material to later on - as we are now finding out in the Fantastic Beasts movies - develop the character in his younger years. (I also remember reading deathly hallows in my youth and catching a few hints of the possible relation between Albus and Gelert, so it wasn't really a surprise anyway)

I think it was during the chapters in Deathly Hallows where the Rita Skeeter book is read that I first got the hints. It's been years since I last read book 7, but the way his relationship with Grindelwald progressed all the way up to the three-way duel between them and Aberforth, that ended in Ariana's death always stuck with me. Probably because of the prior revelations that were pointing Albus into a sort of "Wizard Hitler", at least until he was woken up by the tragedy that ensued.
