I’m a producer in LA. I used to work the BET Awards, HipHop Awards, etc. Every single rapper… Every. Single. One… demands a full glam squad. And they’re expensive AF. When we have to hire a makeup artist for them, they usually demand test runs with the makeup person (like how brides do before they get married). Jayz, Snoop, Dre, Em, Lil Wayne, Lil Jon, Busta, Chance, Ice Cube, Ice T, 50, Common, even (gasp) Suge Knight back in the day. They all understand naked skin looks terrible & sickly oncamera. They wear foundation, various powders, colors so they don’t like shit to all of America (and the world). It’s literally part of the gig.

Thank you for writing this out. This is something that just makes sense - on camera/stage/display, make-up the norm. I expected it to be true, but have no experience of my own to have been useful to add to the conversation so never said anything about it. Just rolled my eyes and moved on. lol

@@sheryl0t7and5 Many people dont realize how hot stage lighting is. Besides the shine of sweat, the color of ur face changes. Parts of ur face get too red and splotchy and other parts get sallow and almost green. As technology advances and the pixels get more high-def, the more stage makeup is required. That stage makeup actually looks terrible in real life, but is great and “natural” looking in HD. Most of the time, male makeup isn’t meant to beautify, but to just make them look healthy and lively/normal.
@613ot77 ай бұрын
@@HAB63 Ngl, most armys prefer the boys more natural. We are tired of the whitewashing and get really excited when we have opportunities to see them real real. It’s quite rare. Also that’s coming from international preferences and beauty standards. We do keep in mind that South Korea prefers a heavier hand in makeup and feminization.
@sheryl0t7and57 ай бұрын
@user-613ot7 yes, that all makes sense. All one has to do is go to the gym or out for a run and then come home and look in the mirror, and even without the hot lights, it becomes obvious why makeup is standard. I've heard professionals say similar things regarding music and pitch correction for instance - with the advancement of technology we have instruments and whatnot generated perfectly so the slight variations of the human voice become more noticeable and thus needing a tweak here and there to satisfy the expectations of the masses.

13:27 148 is genius level IQ he's super smart 💜 15:40 one of the members once said "every day is work for Namjoon" (RM) 18:06 idol's are what Koreans call kpop artists. Idols don't typically write their own stuff, the company hands them songs & they often aren't allowed to say no. BTS write produce compose their music, along with their in house producers. There a few others who do this now but it was less comment back then. Because underground rappers don't consider idols *real* artists, BTS received a lot of hate, calling them sellouts because everyone assumed they'd not write their own stuff, but BTS sure showed them! 18:43 every artist or person who has been on TV, in any country, and including rappers wear makeup for the screen. In Korea it's just more common and they'll wear lip gloss and light eye shadow sometimes. I wish all men were more comfortable doing that tbh. Gendering items clothing or hobbies/jobs, I've always thought was dumb. Be and do what you want, as long as it makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone 😊 32:19 he was called front door guy etc by people who didn't know BTS, they just saw a really hot guy and said "omg who is 3rd guy from the left/front door guy/car door guy etc" so not ARMYs saying it, it was what we call "locals" who don't know them but saw him and were like "oh damn who's that hottie guy" he's actually really humble. Because he has a symmetrical face, everyone agrees he's attractive. He's uses world wide handsome as a joke, he was shocked people outside of Korea also found him beautiful, because each country has their own beauty standards. He knew in Korea people thought he was cute, but had no idea *everyone* around the world would agree lol 46:35 borahae is sort of a mashup of the Korean words for purple and I love you. Bora is purple in Korean, saranghae is I love you. So it just means we love and trust you forever. It's a more powerful I love you 💜 if we say it to you or drop purple hearts it means we will support and love you 49:51 ish, even w/o makeup they have great skin too lol, it's crazy 56:52 xenophobia is the fear of other cultures different from your own. Plus people forget that 'Make Up' was a male thing not a female thing. In fact the only women who wore make up were ladies of the night sex workers. It was made for extremely rich powerful men like kings, royality, those with huge power and money. Then the ladies of the night started to wear it. Then rich women with powerful husbands started to wear make up. When it become easier and cheaper to make women wore it very very sparingly and at first were looked down upon for wearing it due to the 'Ladies of the Night' Now it's seen as ''normal only for women' errrmmmm Wait a minute have we forgotten all the men who wore it in the 80's????????

Little clarification, hope you won't mind. IQ in this range is usually considered as "nearly genius" but definitely gifted and above simply "intelligent" but there are different ranks so it's not entirely false to call it a genius. Personally, it makes me chuckle because it's not even a one time thing as it depends on what kind of a test it was, time of day, level of noise in the room you've taken the test and even if a person feels well that day. We also tend to lose the ability of getting high scores with age. All those things aside, it's clear that our Leader and President is an intelligent guy - he proves it every time he speaks (and is sober, LOL).😉 Also, xenophobia is more connected to the country of origin than the culture itself. It's a feeling that all people from the x country are inherently worse and your country is better than them. That's basically why so many reactors from the States don't know the term, unfortunately. Even when they don't feel this way (and usually they don't), they were often fed the narrative since early childhood that the USA is "the best country on Earth".

Little clarifications: Namjoon is the main songwriter in the group and Yoongi is the main producer of the group. *But* they all write, compose and produce. The 3 rappers just write and produce more than the others. Specifically, RM and SUGA since they were doing it before joining and thus are more comfortable with it. And they also have in-house producers that produce for them and help them with their own work. Bang Sy Hyuk, their old CEO, is also a producer for example. They also work with Pdogg, Slow Rabbit, Supreme Boi, and EL CAPTXN. And they work with people outside of their company as well And Hoseok is indeed the newest of the rappers to rap and music production. But he's extremely good as well! RM, SUGA, and j-hope are the wholly trinity of rap in K-pop 😂 They were nominated for 5 Grammys but unfortunately haven't won any As for a bit of vocabulary: Hyung is used by males to refer to older males they are close with. (Males would use noona with older girls. Girls would use oppa with older males and unnie with older females) Also, that title is used out of endearment but also out of respect. If someone is older, no matter how much, you should use it to address them. For example, Jin (1992) is SUGA's only hyung (1993 for SUGA). He would say hyung or Jin-hyung while talking about or to Jin - even though they were born 3 months apart - because they were born in different years. However, you won't address people younger or from the same year as you like that. For example, RM and j-hope (1994), and Jimin and V (1995) don't need to use any title when talking to each other. Jungkook has 6 hyungs in BTS, Yoongi (the second oldest) has one (Jin) and Jin - has the oldest - has zero hyung in BTS. Opposingly, Jin has 6 dongsaengs. And JK is the maknae (the youngest). You'll hear terms like "the maknae line" (Jimin, V and Jung Kook) to refer to the 3 youngest or "the hyung line" (Jin, SUGA, j-hope and RM) to refer to the four oldest. -ssi (-씨) and -nim (-님) are the default titles you use when you don't know someone or not well, -nim being more respectful and important than -ssi. You just add it after a name. (ex: Jungkook-ssi, or Bang PD-nim) You use -ie (-이) to talk about someone endearingly, but it only works if the word ends with a consonant. For example you could say "hyungie" or "Hoseokie" but it doesn't work with Yoongi because it ends with a vowel. But you could say "Yoonie" since Korean names are constructed with two syllables (Seok Jin, Yoon Gi, Ho Seok, Nam Joon, Ji Min, Tae Hyung, Jung Kook) -ah (-아) or -yah (-야) is used to call someone or when you talked to them directly. You'll hear a lot "Namjoon-ah" or "Yoongi-yah" in their videos for example. Similarly, -ah is used with consonants and -yah with vowels. But it's used between friends (people of the same year) or from older people. Again Jin being the oldest can call all of them that way. Though BTS members are close enough that they use it between them anyway Sometimes you'll hear j-hope be called "Hobi" or "Hoba". It's because Hob (홉) is how Koreans pronounce "hope" from j-hope. And they apply -ie or -ah to it accordingly (홉이 or 홉아) SUGA's stage name, as explained, means "shooting guard". It comes from the two syllables of the Korean translation "슈팅 가드" (syuting gadeu). You take the two first syllables "슈" (syu) and "가" (ga) and you get "슈가" (syuga) - pronounced "shoo-gah" and stylized as SUGA. You'll also hear the terms sunbae (선배) and hoobae (후배). Sunbae is used to address someone who has more experience in a field and hoobae someone that has less experience. For example, BIGBANG are BTS' sunbaes while TXT are BTS' hoobaes. There names in Korean: Kim Seok Jin (김 석진) - known as Jin (진) Min Yoon Gi (민 윤기) - known as SUGA (슈가) Jung Ho Seok (정 호석) - known as j-hope (제이홉) Kim Nam Joon (김 남준) - known as RM Park Ji Min (박 지민) - known as Jimin (지민) Kim Tae Hyung (김 태형) - known as V (븨) Jeon Jung Kook (전 정국) - known as Jung Kook (정국) There, I hope you loved my little Korean course 😂
@evantesseract7377 ай бұрын
This was delightful and excellent detail! Just to complicate it slightly, since Korea has moved officially to global age, people are handling age differences a little differently. I've mainly seen younger folks who are close in age but in different years - they talk about whether they should consider themselves the same age or not. People seem to joke about it but also navigate it a bit fluidly, and the younger generation also seems more comfortable with casual speech as long as the age gap is narrow. I'm not sure if it's going to lead to widespread cultural change or not, it's just a thing I've observed 😁

Running alongside their great performances and music they have an equally impressive amount of reality content. So that even if you were tone deaf there is so much other content to fall in love with. The BTS phenomenon cannot be compared to anything else. They did this with continuing attempts to diminish and exclude them by the mainstream industry establishment. See BORACITY WHY THE INDUSTRY IS TERRIFIED OF BTS. Despite the fact that BTS MUSIC etc represents more than 50% of all the rest of Kpop put together, and despite the fact they took Big Hit that became HYBE from 20 Employees to a conglomerate and it was calculated BTS represented 0.3 of Koreas GNP. A recent article tried to credit the group 17 with the success of Hybe and the rising popularity of kpop. That is why their impossible success gives hope that hard work and perseverance can win even when those in power try to keep you down.💜 imagine succeeding when the unconventional way you achieved that, threatens the system.

@@NaniLuvReactsThey pretty much have the same opinion as Eminem has about the Grammy’s. Em said that the Grammy’s uses artists like him as a selling point only to disappoint them when it comes to the actual awards. After he lost to some lesser experienced rapper, he said he was never again going to attend the show. He disliked being dangled in front of fans as an artist who could possibly win some major category just to ensure viewers would watch the show. I think it was even the Grammy’s where they kept pushing that BTS was performing all throughout the show and they ended up being one of the last performers and they really just used BTS as a ploy to maintain viewership. I believe that was the same awards show where the boys had more than double the viewers on their vlive after the show was over, which was really more proof that the Grammy’s were just using them. At the end of the day, I think the daesangs in the Asian awards shows are more important than the Grammy’s.

Bts is the first Artist Who started their own variety show. And now all kpop groups started it. For fan interaction.
@roguechevelle6 ай бұрын
It's really funny how that happens they started youtube logs because they were given minimum screen time or slots by the industry, it was born out of a necessity since they didn't have much money to promote themselves and they had the desire to connect to fans. They made Bangtan Bombs which are mostly short clips of the behind the scenes in between shooting music shows etc and it started in the beginning with the members themselves turning on the camera goofing off. BTS is the standard now because every group seems to do behind the scenes content when it wasn't really a thing back in 2013. Some groups had youtube channels back then but they didn't utilize it to the extent BTS did. Same thing happened with variety shows they weren't invited to a lot of variety shows because they came from a small company and when they were they were treated badly especially off camera. Grown adults would insult them to their faces. So they got tired of the disrespect and decided to make their own variety show "Run BTS!". Now most groups have their own variety shows. There is a great video by Boracity Magazine "Trends BTS have created", the kpop industry has been studying BTS for years they envy their success and even their innovation.

Idol group that's what Kpop is Idol groups they are expected to be perfect untouchable. They are not Korean Popular music arts they are not even called artists or recording artists they are called 'Idols'. They are not expected to write their own songs, compose their own music or be music producers, they aren't even expected to chose their own songs but are expected to sing and do whatever their company tells them. However BTS broke that mold in fact they smashed it's into tiny piece's because Bang wanted real Artist not Idol puppets. It's why many in the Kpop Industry looked down on them and said they were so poor they had to write their own song's. Yes their company was on the brink of going bankrupt if one of their creditors had demanded their money back that would have been the end of BigHit and BTS. Now look at them they are HYBE Corperation and the Biggest Kpop Company all due to BTS and the Bang being a good business man and wanting BTS to be real artists not mere 'Idol's. The members were all given Share's in the company when they signed their second contract with BigHit/HBYE. They've now signed their 3rd contract with them they just basically do whatever they want. Artist Freedom unlike the rest of the Kpop (idol music) industry. NB: now there are some groups who are 'allowed' to make their own music within the Kpop Industry but it's on the norm.

It also helped the members to learn how to love themselves. - Eat JIn has helped a lot of Army with eating disorders - JK was 13 when he joined big hit, leaving his home and his parents to live and train on his own in the big city of Seoul, he probably could see his parents twice a year only. So they really did raise him. JK himself has said that he's probably a combination of the personality of his 6 BTS brothers. He says he was lucky to have met such good people. It shows, JK is adorable. - Yeah they go live often and it's so fun. We tune in even though we don't understand a word to watch Jin gaming or watch JK do his laundry x]. Once JK fell asleep during a livestream and millions of people just watched him sleep haha. They're so real. - In K-pop we talk about 'bias', which is our fav group member. Mine is J-hope. Then we talk about 'bias wreckers', which are members of the group that are coming for that bias spot. Mine are Suga and Jimin. I'm OT7 though, which means I absolutely adore all 7 members. Once you watch more of their content you can pick your own bias! - They don't have a grammy yet, they have 5 nominations though. They should win one at some point tbh, they're the best group in the world, but it might not happen. Grammies use them as clickbait. Doesn't matter though, they've done so many things in this world, they don't need a grammy. I hope they one day win one though! - They break records, then break their own records. They're rn in the military and they still break records. - I really like about BTS and asian artists in general that it's more okay to be 'feminine'. They don't always have to be 'hard and cool'. They can wear makeup, they can call guys pretty and it's a compliment, they can cry, they can cuddle eachother without it being gay, they can compliment eachother, they can act cute etc etc. In western society its often seen as gay and men stay away from it, but these idols can be as cute and 'feminine' as they like. - Xenophobia is a hate towards foreigners or 'strangers'. Dw we don't come after you, we are just diehard fans and want to share any information about them with you hahaha. You're super respectful towards them so it's fine. - Vlive doesnt exist anymore, it's all Weverse now. Their lives etc are on there. -They now all have solo albums, except for Jin as he was the first to join the military, he'll probably release one when he's back this June. They'll all be back together in 2025 around june. Borahae! 💜 it is 'I purple you' in Korean. If you want to watch some music of other groups my fav other groups are Stray Kids and ATEEZ. Stray Kids are the biggest boygroup after BTS and ATEEZ just performed 2 weekends at Coachella.

I'm a very non traditional ARMY in that I found Run BTS (their variety show) before I heard a single song they'd ever done. They caught me sheerly on their personalities and senses of humor. The amazing music is just the icing on the cake from my perspective.

Yeah, since May 2022, they have won over 200 awards, as a group, and as solo artists. And they are all enlisted in the military right now, and still winning awards. They created content to release for ARMY's while they are gone serving their country. They have all seven been enlisted since December 12, 2023. They will be all seven discharged in June 2025. IDOL GROUP - In South Korea, the KPOP system is the industry that creates what they call IDOL music. They consist mostly of boy and girl groups. The members of those groups are not called artists, they are called IDOLS. that's what they mean when they say IDOL Group. K-Pop is not a genre, it's an industry. South Korea has over 2000 entertainment businesses that create IDOL groups and produce IDOL music. BTS are an anomoly in that system, which is why they got the hate and backlash that they did. in General, Idols do not write their own music, or have artistic freedom. BTS have had artistic freedom from the beginning, and they write and compose and produce their own music with guidance from their Production team. When they debuted, they were ages 15 to 20. And they had already been Big Hit trainees for 6 months to 3 years.

There are terms that you may hear a lot when you watch BTS videos. In Korean, Hyung means an older brother, which is a term used by a man to refer to a close male friend or brother who is older than them, and Dongsaeng means a younger brother and sister, regardless of gender. And Maknae means the youngest, the youngest member of the family or the youngest member of the team. :) Bora means purple, and In Korean, Bora means purple, and Hae is a verb that means "to do" and "to take action." So the meaning of Borahae is "I purple you." It is an expression used like "I love you" between BTS and ARMY. :) Oh, I recommend Suchwita(meaning time to get drunk with Suga), too. Suchwita is a talk show created by Suga to promote the members' solo albums. Now, it's much larger than his initial intention, so he invited a variety of guests other than the members, though. 🤣 Episodes in which the members appeared are ep.1, 7, 9, 12, 14, 15, 18 and 21. :) You can hear the behind-the-scenes stories of the members' solo work in these videos. And I highly recommend BTS HARDSHIPS 2013-2021 by xCeleste. This video shows why BTS and ARMY have a strong bond and why ARMY is so protective of BTS. :)

The 700 awards is as of mid 2022. Along they way they collected more. They are still collecting awards despite being in the military. Vlive is where they do their live streams. Now they use weverse live. When it comes to live stream, I would give it to Jungkook. He does everything on live stream. He also has the highest real time view of 16M in 2023.

Borahe is a combination of two Korean words: Bora (purple) & Saranghe (I love you). According to Kim Tae Hyung “Bora or purple” is the last color in the rainbow so “Borahe” means “I will love you for a long time.” Xenophobia means dislike or prejudice against people from other countries (according to the dictionary)😊

The name of the fandom ARMY comes from the Bulletproof theme and that armys are supposed to stand alongside BTS against any injustice. It's an acronym and I'm about to expose our government name 😭 it stands for "Adorable representatives MC for youth" 😭 it's still better than the "bangwools (bells)" which was the original idea 😭 Army sounds badass tho. About the make-up thing everyone who works with cameras wears make-up. Cameras don't lie and they pick up the smallest imperfections, so all the musicians (rappers as well), actors, TV presenters etc wear make-up to even put their skin tone and they wear the high-coverage make up mostly bc it looks the best on camera. So it's not light touch ups, some concealer or skin tint, it's the foundation that normally you'd use for glam make up when you go to some party and they wear it on daily when they film something and i thought it was a well known fact 😅 in Korea "kpop idols" are not considered artists, bc you see kpop is an industry not a genre and it's an amalgamation of sound, dance, visuals, make up and clothes and usually people who become idols are either talented in one or two fields like singing or dancing or are just really pretty and they get music and everything else handled to them. Most of them do not write or produce their songs and that's fine, there's a lot of western artist who also have no idea how to write or produce songs so they hire people for it, but it gets iffy when it comes to rapper, bc you don't really call a rapper someone who doesn't write their own raps and most kpop rappers don't do that, so bts rap line was being looked down on, bc of that fact. Nowadays there's more idols who contribute in writing or producing songs, but back in the days it was very rare. BTS rap line proved time and time again that they are real rappers, writing and producing their own stuff.

Finding this a bit late but..."I know I'm pausing a lot, sorry." ??? Oh, honey, no! When watching a long video, so full of info., we - the TRUE ARMY - appreciate the pausing!!! We KNOW you're trying to pick up on/remember every detail possible. Watching an almost 48 minute video and your reaction is only 50 minutes long (or even less than the run time of the vid.)? We know someone's just in a rush to watch it and "get it over with". We know they don't really care about the details or trying to really absorb any of the info. They're only doing it for the fans, because it was requested, NOT because they truly want to learn anything about them. THANK YOU for doing it right!!!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
