Saadia betrayed her people to the Empire who were fighting against domination. But, people in the comments told him to do this quest....despite it being really early in the game and him not having an understanding of the central conflict within the storyline. No big deal but it's annoying. Later into the game, I'm sure he'd have picked a different choice.

@@Iron_Stigmata Most people also like super kewl dragon that helps you out vs the whiny blades who think they can boss around the last person they're sworn to serve. Main difference between Parthy and Saady is Saadia has nothing to really earn your favor aside from eye candy, and there's a strong potential that she straight up just lies to you. She's not "sorry," she's just afraid of getting caught, assuming she is lying. Paarthurnax shows genuine remorse and a willingness to make things right. As a bonus, the Alik'r, a group of supposed assassins react to you breaking into their den with an offer of peace. They give a more believable story if you know the lore, and if you follow through, they keep to their word. (I've been told that Saadia's burial earn does end up in Whiterun's HotD, but there's also speculation that it's just a mechanical oversight.)

i'm late to this but the Saadia / Alik'r situation has been debated in the fandom for a long time because no one actually knows for sure who's telling the truth. Saadia could very well just be a noble with hired assassins after her, but it's also plausible for the Alik'r to hunt her down for treason. from what we know of the Alik'r though, they're not assassins but are not necessarily mercenaries either, they're nomads who kind of operate as Hammerfell's Companions Guild (good natured work to keep things in order that could sometimes classify as mercenary work). and Hammerfell isn't in Skyrim by the way, it's a separate, desert country that partially borders Skyrim to the west/southwest, it's where the Redguards come from. but yeah, because of the Alik'r's reputation and their purpose in Hammerfell, it's more likely that Saadia is lying and she really did sell out people to the Aldmeri Dominion (who are not good people by the way, they're basically bigheaded, sociopathic, snobby Elf supremacists who also outlawed the worship of one of the Nine Divines for no good reason). her selling out people to them likely means she believes in the Aldmeri Dominion's cause, ratted out Talos worshippers, and that they were slaughtered for just worshipping their God. and just a tidbit here - the Empire/Imperials are actually in cahoots with the Dominion in Skyrim's Civil War (labeled as the Thalmor), but only out of necessity and not really because they want to be. there's more to it but it's a lot of lore lol. but yeah, that's just what i think about the Saadia thing, a lot of people debate it though. :)

@@im_azraelle it's worth noting that hammerfell was granted to the aldmeri dominion as part of the white gold concordant, but later rebelled and won their independence. I saw in your upload list that your way past this in your playthrough now, but i thought i'd give you a little lore to give some context for your decision about Saadia. As Kematu said, she sold out her people to the Aldmeri Dominion. The Dominion are a political group run by High Elves, and they're essentially trying to take over all of Tamriel. Saadia's people (and yours) are Redguards. Their homeland, Hammerfell (a desert country completely separate from Skyrim), fought a war against the Dominion to stop them from taking over Hammerfell. So basically, Saadia betrayed her and your character's homeland by giving information to a bunch of fascist High Elves trying to take over said homeland. She definitely deserves to be captured lol, but no biggie. You're new to the game and don't know the lore, and actually gave a decent reasoning for letting her go.

Unless Kematu is lying. 🤔
@zlovmumixam82733 ай бұрын
@@TheNorthlander Makes no sense. No incentive. The hunter only makes it harder by lying about the prey. The prey only makes it easier by lying about the hunter. More lies = easier for prey. Saadia is the one who's life is on the line, not really Kematu. Kematu has no reason to lie to a stranger about his mark. Only makes it harder for him to get her location. She has EVERY reason to lie, being on the run in foreign land and being hunted. Maybe there is a misunderstanding. But the bottom line is, Saadia has been found guilty by the Alk'ir, and Kematu genuinely believes the charges brought against her. If your questioning the correctness of the charges against her, that's a pointless conversation cause the evidence is outside of Skyrim where the player can't access it.

enjoying the video, fun to see someone experience this game for the first time like I did. I'm too deep into the game now, got hundreds of hours on it. just a bit sad you didn't reconsider Kematu's offer but you did lack context so I understand. And you said that even if Saadia did betray her people, she's trying to run to start a new life and that the government of Hammerfell should move on from her crime, I don't think treason is something people can move on from XD either way we don't know who's actually telling the truth but I'd rather trust someone who's willing to reason than someone who'd pull a knife out of me the moment we were alone.

30:43 I also had that reaction and held off on doing this quest until like 10-15 levels later. I don't know what you chose yet, but I decided that Saadia/Iman was lying and turned her in. (Not gonna lie, part of the reason I did this is because I didn't want to have to go find Kematu LOL, I just went to Rorikstead and talked to the Alik'r to see what they had to say). What I initially found frustrating about Skyrim is that there is no "right" choice, per se, like there is in a lot of games. There are a few quests that are doing good, but a lot of them have some element of moral grayness. Even the Stormcloaks vs Imperials conflict is very grey-shaded. I can see why people just call Skyrim a power fantasy, since dragonborn are basically demi-gods interfering in mortal activities, but I've learned to appreciate this about the game and have had a lot of fun even while avoiding joining unsavory factions (even though I currently have a rogue build).

The mountain is not for the feint of heart, and it’ll also trigger cultists to attack you and open up the Dragonborn dlc. If you want to become a thief, hit up Riften. Mage: Winterhold. Merc: Windhelm. If you want a bound bow (magic conjured bow that has no weight or need for arrows), head to fort amol and look in a bucket in the prison. If you want a wife that is unkillable and a brute, get Mjoll the lioness (in riften) to like you and talk to her while wearing an amulet of Mara after doing her quest (need to be lvl 14).

@@misantrope6267 The DLC made it worse too. The Far Harbor DLC interferes with a Institute playthrough cause you can't have them all returned to the institute like the Institute would want, but can only side with them or destroy them. (The Dima synth escapees) And the Nuka-world DLC ruined the anti-crime agenda of 3/4 factions. I can't be a BoS soldier, Institute director, or Minuteman General, and also be a gang leader... its hypocritical. And the general illogical decisions are ridiculous. The Railroad is just a joke and shouldn't even exist. they got Deathclaws running around ripping settlers to shreds and they are worried about some Synth who abandoned a clean healthy home in the Institute to go roll around in filth and garbage in the wasteland looking for bugs to eat? THATS their priority concern? A WHOLE GROUP living in a wasteland dedicated their lives to some Social Justice nonsense when people are getting radiation sickness all around them and REAL problems exist. Most people in wealthy 1st world nations today don't even care about that garbage, but somehow these poor starving scavvers have time to worry about fake people who chose to live in a radioactive wasteland instead of working a 9-5 in a lab underground with all the food they can eat and zero radiation. Then you have 3/4 factions having THE SAME EXACT ending. The illogical ending of "I don't like these people I already wiped out, so now lets use the reactor to turn this beautiful underground sanctuary we could use for ourselves into dust." Like WHAT!? How are you gonna lose men taking over the most pristine piece of infrastructure in the commonwealth, just to turn it into dust afterwards.

I have a little saying for this game. "Change your socks whenever you stop." Which means save your game a lot. Hope this helps if you are still playing.

If you get the convalescent spell you can heal your followers. And you can also give them better weapons and armor to help protect them. I give my followers ebony or better.

She shall pay for betraying the Alikr! PS: I sided with the Alikr but I enjoy your playthrough. You are lucky the giants weren't there where the mammoths were or it would have been much worse. 1:00:00 LOL (You got pwned). End Of Video comment: Dude everybody wasn't hard. You just kept doing more upper level missions (level 25+) XD
