Good compilation. It is very good you included my favourite huizinga roll by Jessica Klimkat against very quality opponent. And yes she finished this contest by ashi gatame technique. She controlls opponent's arm the all time therefor she has not problem with first opponent's escape. After second roll she started osaekomi ushiro kesa gatame again and at 0:52 she add ashi gatame with it (she stretchs right leg and elevates left knee at the same time). Then opponent have to tap immediately.

Funny how judo refs always seem to be more focused on looking good in their suits, rather than looking if the person getting choked is still there. They NEVER bother to move closer, maybe get down, or walk around the competitors if necessary. No they always have to hover high above the action, preferrably at the other end of the mat and if the competitors are in a bad angle, well then it is their problem!

It's interesting how BJJ has now directly influenced modern ne waza in Judo, through emphasis, time limits for ne waza and styles of attack. I trained Judo in 1980s and early 1990s and the ne waza applications often looked fairly different than today.
@m5a1stuart83

Not likely, Judo already has its own Newaza System. Influence by BJJ? not likely. In BJJ, Newaza is a slow pace while Judo is hard and fast.

@@m5a1stuart83 Hi, yes, it definitely has influenced it and in some Judo tournmanets now, time on ground is extended. Many Judoka cross-train in BJJ skill-sets. As I said, I trained Judo pre-UFc/BJJ and groundwork/ne-waza, most due to time limits and rules, was much more basic in application.

@@zartic4life The lack of time limits or in sport BJJ, extended time limits, and the early emphasis on refinement through prize fighting changed it much from Judo.I trained Judo in the early 80s through to mid-1990s and ne waza strategy, most of the time, a few seconds given, was different. Strategies and tactics from guard, etc. that never existed began to develop in probably the late 1970s with more people practicing in Brazil. I trained with Judoka from Korea, Poland, the U.S., and France and never saw or experienced most of what constituted to systemization of techniques with in BJJ, and strategies and tactics. There were basic essences and early BJJ was very similar albeit with fighting applications. BJJ cross-training started in Judo, at least here, in the late 1990s, and BJJ refined the ne waza of many Judoka who only had a cursory techniques. Now, there are many Judoka who cross-train in BJJ groundwork.
@zartic4life
@zartic4life Жыл бұрын
@@turntablesrockmyworld9315 im not sure what tactics youre refering to and what refinement? Watch some Kosen (ruleset) Judo. Newaza is an extension (not seperate like BJJ) of tachi in other words your position will be very different than in bjj where almost always in somones guard. Not a great place to be as Khabib illustrated (ground and pound) something Judo refers to as a "last resort after a failed attempt" as it should be in any self defence scenario. My point is BJJ has nothing over Judo when it comes to ground techniques and the tactics used are a result of BJJ rulesets and lack of stand up. The ground game that Judo implements is far more effective in any serious confrontation instead of the playful "flow", jumping guard and butt scooting you see in BJJ. Not a smart tactic in any real world scenario. Just compare the speed and intensity of Judo newaza vs BJJ. I'll pick the first one for any combat situation. I'll ignore the fact BJJ has almost no stand up something that is critical for any self defence and will allow for more effective newaza if necessary. If I throw you I wont be in your guard I'll either be in side control, on top, or on your back. Then you can use newaza to finish not play transition and tactical games with your opponent something BJJ people cant seem to wrap their heads around.
