They wrap it up under a sense of moral superiority. Look at communities revolving around food, dieting, travel, child free, etc. You find people who abstain from or create moral stances based again things based on their own laziness, childishness or fear of responsibility but then call themselves the morally correct ones and anyone who isn't them is actually the bad guy.

As someone who worked at subway for a few years, you basically can't get food poisoning from there unless something crazy happens, all of the food is precooked, outside of some really fucked up shit like just leaving food out forever or proper contamination you'll be fine. They legally had to change the name of the chicken fillet sub because it's not a fillet it's a precooked chicken nugget in some seasoning. Best sub though.
