No. He has thought of all of this a thousand times before. I'm a quarter his age and I could fill your ears with all kinds of wisdom of this sort. But he missed the point. This was about the first person experience of the electron, was it not? How rich does an electron experience things? Is there anything too "rich" in your experience right now so that it could not be accounted for by a particle in space receiving information from all around? The electric field, the gravitational fields...

@@alankuntz6494 hence why Thây mentioned that we must transcend even our conception of equality along with the superiority/inferiority complexes the man on the left invoked through his question. The best way I can succinctly express the core teaching of non-duality to you my friend is, nacha so. nacho ano. The true nature of existence is not one. not two. Of course a dog cannot perform the complex functions of a human, and a human being cannot perform many of the functions of a dog, this is because non-duality does not entail absolute oneness. Enlightenment of non-duality simply eliminates the illusion of a completely separate existence as well as reveals the law of inter-being to our consciousness. As I explained in a separate reply to you a few years ago, all thought (and by extension all language) is contained within duality; we cannot escape discrimination in this material world. However, how we use our faculty of discrimination in this world is of ultimate importance. The man’s discriminations led him to form a complex of superiority which rooted itself within his consciousness; this discrimination will certainly lead to suffering; however, discrimination used for the purpose of leading oneself and others to discovery, acceptance, and integration of Truth will only bring joy. Developing the capacity of boddhichitta through our practice is the goal of meditation. Recall the symbol of Yin and Yang, both modes of duality comes together to create a non-dual totality. Neither side is eliminated during this process, because Yin and Yang are not one, not two. Such is the nature of life. Yin acts when nature demands the same as Yang does, the same as we do with the Right conduct of the Eightfold Path after attaining enlightenment. I suggest you research Zen Koans and find a really good one. The goal of a Zen Koan is to transcend the limitations of the purely rational mind-this is something I believe you to be currently stuck in-through shocking ourselves awake to the Ultimate Reality. I sincerely hope my explanation helped you, my friend, and I wish you a fantastic rest of your life with your time on Earth. 🌸 💗

Separation is part of nature, we use to survive, we use it to study things, we use separation to make science and reveal local boxed truths, we use it to communicate to other humans our ideas, There is nothing wrong with it until you live permanently in that box. Dynamic mind, separate, meld it back, separate again, meld it again, observe separate parts, observe the whole, and in the end never forget that reality is anyway no separation.
@ericastier1646
@ericastier1646 2 жыл бұрын
The illusion of separation especially in your comment, is hubris. There is no separation, nature was alongside us all the way when we thought we became independent and nature will crush us when we think we have separated so well. We are not separate, not a moment, not a yota , nothing. Hubris and human false sense of superiority talks of separation. Human fools.

This man strikes me as someone who doesn’t really know consciousness as it is. He equates consciousness with cognition, intellect and is very proud of limited conceptual knowledge and frameworks used to categorise the universe. This is not knowing consciousness. This is to be lost in conceptual analysis and identified with a particular ideology (scientific) and confined by it. Quite rightly Thay points out interdependence and that our thoughts, our ideas etc. are result of complex interdependent processes but the human being develops an arrogance by stepping back and applying abstract limited notions, claiming those processes as it’s own. We emerge from the universe and view it through the limited lens of conceptual knowledge which causes us to assume our knowledge as absolute and overlook the true nature that consciousness is not in actual real terms separate from anything observed. Anyone who has spent time in the lab of observing consciousness from the position of consciousness rather than the limited position of intellect will have discovered some truth about consciousness and the so called world and that it is not separate. But it takes time sitting and observing and being willing to let go of ideas and ideology. Try and remove consciousness from what is observed, leaving only the objects of experience? No one can do it. We see the world as we are not as it is. 🙏🏻

You're on the money with your warning against scientism. But there isn't even 'scientific' evidence of human consciousness. We do not know that a consciousness exists in a lone electron within a hypothetical void atop a ground of being disconnected from ours. We definitely don't have 'evidence' of an electron's consciousness in *that* sense. Thay points out the sense in which an electron is conscious. But it is not as an independent entity. This is the mistake, to think we or an electron are an independent conscious entity.

Saints say that nobody can directly subside or merge his mind into super conscious state or beyond knowledge which feeling is beyond space, time and causation. It is nothingness but infinite joy. Saints say that by proper meditation when one can control his mind from outward physical attraction at first his mind will subside to his own individual soul through four different state of mind i,e sitta, buddhi, pran and ahankar. It is called savikalpa samadhi. In the next step when the aspirant subside his buble-like soul to the giant ocean-like Supreme soul then he will attain to superconcious state which feeling is eternal infinite joy and beyond space, time causation. It is called Nirvicalpa Samadhi. So, it is clear that we are now in dream state. In reality all animate beings and inanimate things are one unique existence. It is called Non-dualism.

The Law myoho-renge-kyo represents the identity of what some scientists refer to as the ‘unified field of all consciousnesses’. In other words, it’s a sound vibration that is the essence of all of existence and non-existence, the ultimate creative force behind planets, stars, nebulae, people, animals, trees, fish, birds, and all phenomena, manifest or latent. All matter and intelligence are simply waves or ripples manifesting to and from this core source. Consciousness (enlightenment) is itself the true creator of everything that is, ever was and ever will be, right down to the minutest particles of dust, each being an individual ripple or wave. The big difference between chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and most other conventional prayers is that instead of depending on a ‘middleman’ to connect us to our state of enlightenment, we’re able to do it ourselves by tapping directly into it by way of self-produced sound vibration. On the subject of ‘Who or What Is God?’, when we compare the concept of ‘God’, as a separate entity that is forever watching down on us, to Nichiren’s teachings, the true omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence of what most people call ‘God’ is our enlightenment, which exists nowhere else but within us. When the disciples asked Jesus where the Kingdom of God is, didn’t he tell them that it was within them? Some say that ‘God’ is an entity that can never be seen. I think that the vast amount of information that is constantly being conveyed via electromagnetic waves gives us proof of how an invisible state of ‘God’ could actually exist. It’s widely known that certain data being relayed by way of electromagnetic waves has the potential to help bring about extraordinary and powerful effects, including instant global awareness of something or mass emotional reaction. As well as many other things, it’s also common knowledge that these waves can easily be used to detonate a bomb or to even enable NASA to control the movements of a robot as far away as the Moon or Mars. However, none of this is possible without a receiver to decode the information that is being transmitted. Without the receiver, the information would remain impotent. In a very similar way, it’s important for us to have our ‘receiver’ switched on so that we can activate a clear and precise understanding of our life, all other life and what we and all else that exists truly is. Chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo helps us to achieve this because it allows us to reach into the core of our enlightenment and switch it on. That’s because the sound vibration of myoho-renge-kyo represents the combination of the three major laws that underlie all existence. Myoho represents the Law of latency and manifestation (Nature) and consists of two alternating states. One state of myo is where everything in life that’s not obvious to us exists. This includes our stored memories when we’re not thinking about them, our hidden potential and inner emotions whenever they’re not being expressed, our desires, our fears, our wisdom, happiness, karma, and more importantly, our enlightenment. The other state, ho, is where everything in Life exists whenever it becomes obvious to us, such as when a thought pops up from within our memory, whenever we experience or express our emotions, or whenever a good or bad effect manifests from our karma. When anything becomes apparent, it simply means that it has come out of the state of ‘myo’ (dormancy/latency) and into a state of ho (manifestation). It’s simply the difference between consciousness and unconsciousness, being awake or asleep, or knowing and not knowing something. The second law, renge, governs and controls the functions of myoho, ren meaning cause and ge meaning effect. The two laws of myoho and renge, both functions together simultaneously, as well as underlies all spiritual and physical existence. The final and third part of the tri-combination, kyo, is what allows the law myoho to be able to integrate with the law renge. It’s the great, invisible thread of energy that fuses and connects together all Life and matter, as well as the past, present and future. It is often termed the Universal Law of Communication. Perhaps it could even be compared to the string theory that some scientists now suspect exists. Just as our body cells, thoughts, feelings and all else are constantly fluctuating within us, everything in the world around us and beyond is also in a constant state of flux, in accordance with these three laws. In fact, more things are going back and forth between the two states of myo and ho in a single moment than it would ever be possible for us to calculate or describe. And it doesn't matter how big or small, important or trivial that anything may appear to be, everything that’s ever existed in the past exists now or will exist in the future, exists only because of the workings of myoho-renge-kyo. These three laws are also the basis of the four fundamental forces and if they didn't function, neither we nor anything else could go on existing. Simply put, all forms of existence, including the seasons, day and night, birth, death and so on, are all moving forward in an ongoing flow of continuation, rhythmically reverting back and forth between the two universal states of myo and ho in absolute accordance with renge and by way of kyo. Even stars are dying and being reborn in accordance with the workings of what the combination myoho-renge-kyo represents. Nam, or Namu, on the other hand, is a password or a key; it allows us to reach deep into our life and fuse with or become one with myoho-renge-kyo. On a more personal basis, nothing ever happens by chance or coincidence, it’s the causes that we’ve made in our past, or are presently making, that determine how these laws function uniquely in each of our lives from moment to moment, as well in our environment. By facing east, in harmony with the direction that the Earth is turning, and rhythmically chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo for a minimum of ten minutes daily, anyone can experience actual proof of its positive effects in their life. In so doing, we can pierce through even the thickest layers of our karma and activate our Buddha Nature (enlightened state). We’re then able to summon forth the wisdom needed to challenge, overcome and change our negative circumstances into positive ones. It brings forth the wisdom that can free us from the ignorance and stupidity that is preventing us from accepting and being proud of the person that we truly are, regardless of our race, colour, gender or sexual preference. We are also able to see and understand our circumstances and environment more clearly, as well as attract and connect with any needed external beneficial forces and situations. Actual proof soon becomes apparent to anyone who chants the words Nam-myoho-renge-kyo on a regular daily basis. Everything is subject to the law of Cause and Effect, so the strength of the result from chanting depends on dedication, sincerity and determination. To explain it more simply, the difference could be compared to making a sound on a piano, creating a melody, or producing a song and so on. NB: There are frightening, disturbing sounds and there are tranquil and relaxing sounds. It's the emotional result from any sound that can trigger off a mood or even instantly change one. When chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo each day you are producing a sound vibration that is the password to your true inner-self - this soon becomes apparent when you start reassessing your views on various things, such as your fears and desires etc. The important way to get the best result when chanting is not to see things in a conventional way (difficult to achieve but can be done), rather than reaching out to an external source, you need to reach into your own life and bring your needs and desires to fruition from within, including any help that you may need. Think of it as a seed within you that you are bringing sunshine and water to in order for it to grow, blossom and bring forth fruit or flowers. It’s important to understand that everything that we need in life, all the answers and potential to achieve our dreams, already exist within us. @ OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN sings about Nam-myoho-renge-kyo @ BOY GEORGE sings about Nam-myoho-renge-kyo

Our very human ability to discriminate is a natural part of being a social animal. It unlocks the ability to organize on larger levels. Without discrimination, organizing larger and larger groups of people, in my opinion, would not be possible. So while discrimination creates suffering, it also creates human society itself as well. So completely eliminating the mind of discrimination is akin to total systems collapse. The idea is not to eliminate it, but to bring it in balance to it's positive elements. That being the creation of social structures that unlock an ability for all to live past sustenance, and to push our species, along with all sentient life, into the future. So I do not despise the mind of discrimination, but rather learn to live through it. You see, it is a dialectic.

It's the discriminating mind that says it must be either-or. Nowhere in the video is it said that we should eliminate the discriminating mind. It's an asset, But it's not an end-point. The skill of discrimination is closely associated with skills of measurement and comparison, as well as choices in direction (to turn left or right). But it's not the ground of our mental reality. For discrimination even to take place, higher mind is needed to see the options. Discriminating mind is born of the over-view, not the other way round. The teaching encourages us to recognize this source strength of mind and to rest here. The more we can do this, the more the art of discrimination is liberated, becoming more attuned, refined and precise.

Discrimination and and and? We are life, and as life are an imperfect perfection: We re better today than we were yesterday and not as we re going to be tomorrow. Ever expanding and evolving. All we do is in alignment with all in the cosmos. we re all expanding at the same pace with variable rate. Discrimination? Look how much we have evolved away from it, collectively, in only the past 100 years!!!

It depends on what is meant by consciousness. Some claim that consciousness not only perceives but in essence "informs"- creates the form of- the bodymind and all things AND perceives them. The body-mind on its own is no more animate than an electron. Scientists keep looking at the objects and not at what is truly perceiving and creating the objects. They need to get quiet and experience awareness behind thought. But Thay may have been a little rough in implying that this guy is responsible for causing suffering with his discrimination. .

Recognize that everything the universe is one. When you zoom out from this world , you'll see that we're so small, everything together. planets, constellations, the galaxies. One thing happen will affect the other. Just like your body. Chop off one of your finger out because one is longer than the other. see how you hand would function in your body. If you say your left hand isn't as strong as your right, when you discriminate it and remove it, then you'll be different. You have a pie of pizza 8 slices for total of 8 people, if one person eat 2, the last one will be hungry. These 8 people are connected.

For us humans, it is not possible. Our ability to discriminate and organize is what unlocks our ability to socialize and build large social systems. Like the nation you live in, and the global economy you operate in. So a mind that does not discriminate is one that does not partake in any social structure that humans have constructed.

Someone who accidentally lose a finger can also do mathematics. Like the feeling conveyed by Master Tich, just that if the logic is more intact, logical fools like myself can buy into the teachings better.
@redjumping
@redjumping 6 жыл бұрын
The logic is sound to those who have the will to look. Nothing exists in isolation; take the mind (brain) out of the universe (using your imagination ; ) ), now keep adding what might be needed for it to be able to operate and carry out mathematics. You might just find that everything you took from it - you will need to give back. Thich Nhat Hanh did not just pick this logic from a readers digest magazine one afternoon, he has spent his life shedding the human conditioning of specialness to view what is. You may have a genuine interest in grasping the point, or you may not, I hope you do, and I hope you give it the time to see through your (our) conditioning. Good luck : )

You might just find that everything you took from it - you will need to give back.."?
@redjumping
@redjumping 6 жыл бұрын
My test of oneness is asking you to take a brain and isolate it from everything. Clearly it won't be able to do maths at that point. Now ask what needs to be added back to the system to allow it to function properly. For example it will need blood, blood will need oxygen, then a way to shed CO2, so some sort of lung perhaps, then a kidney to clean the blood of toxins that build up, etc etc. Eventually you will find that you need pretty much a universe : ) Nothing is isolated from this everything state.
@ohyeah4308
@ohyeah4308 6 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah these philosophical claims people can make according to their appetites. But you pretty much do not require your finger to be intact to do math right? Or that you are after some "koan-like" experience by thinking like this? I still do not get the point to be honest.
@redjumping
@redjumping 6 жыл бұрын
No, of course you do not require all your fingers to do maths. I am assuming that you are not silly enough to believe that anyone would suggest that. The logic is that we're are all part of the same system.If you don't get the point after my previous examples, then I guess; you don't get it, or I can't explain it : )

I see where the information comes from that is written/translated/interpreted in all those books. As with the bible and its devils and demons, 1000s of years ago,. Great care must be observed in embracing the 'learned philosophy' of creation. The 'Flatworld' mentality is of great inefficiency.To observe is to be blameless. Want to blame? Blame all. To blame all is to accept all. The question then becomes the answer. The concern becomes p r e s e n c e . One must have at least the consideration of beyond the 3rd dimension and 5 senses in order to embrace this.
