Thays words have helped me during the last thirty years as I was puzzled about life and death. He has taught me in a non dogmatic way that peace is possible at any moment in our lives. It was so fortunate I bought one of his books and have listened for hours to his talks.I like the idea of holding fear like a child instead if of pushing it away..how to handle our suffering is so important other wise we might become overwhelmed by it..thankyou

You have such a wonderful way of explaining and teaching Thay.........thank you......upon finding you during this Covid period, and listening to you, I have learnt to "take care" of my anger about certain things and have been able to forgive...totally! Something I never thought I'd be able to do! You have taught me this in your talks and teachings dear Thay..... I feel so much better and so do the individuals that my long standing anger involved....... I thank you so very much, from the bottom of my heart 🙏🙏❤💕💕

Would it be accurate to say that mindfulness of anger will cause it to fade, pass away, or would it still run as long as it would otherwise, you're simply aware of it?

0:03:31 I disagree that there are good formations. I think I learned this from Thich's books, where just the word "formation" was used, and it was to say that all of them are bad: we're talking about ideas, isn't it? Compassion is not an idea, a symbol, a rule, a metaphor: it is being whole-heartedly present to what is happening. Isn't "no mind" a famous Buddhist idea? Nirvana is "winking out", to mean the light of consciousness goes out, and Christianity has many corresponding terms: "cloud of unknowing", "via negativa", "dark nights of the senses and soul". I will go so far as to describe all (mental) formations, all ideas as lies. If I say "God!" am I waking God who is sleeping, or am I pretending to pray by taking God's name in vain? I do often cry out "God!" and God willing, it usually leads to my falling silent and drinking in the presence of everything around me. I should say "Chris willing". I think maybe Thich had a stroke because he didn't get a chance to work out his system with all these millions of people asking him for advice. He was afraid to just stare at them until they fell silent and looked back, and then he would smile as if to say, "You know all you need to know."
