That’s how our mothers cut things in Italy, way back when there were no cutting boards. My mom cooked everything in an open fire place, the women took their bread to the town ovens to be baked. It was truly a village. The whole town pooled their grapes together and made wine that everyone shared. Yes, back in the 50’s they did stomp the grapes by foot. My mom trained all of our girls to cut like that, I have lots of cutting boards, but cut my vegetables in my hands.

@jenniferaragon. In this portion of the video, she's making the broth using chicken. She adds the vegetables, cooks until meat is done then strains everything out and only uses the broth to finish making the soup.
