So basically, the short was very perfectly planned keeping all the laws in mind domestic international both, now the govt is doing face saving acts through SEBI. Coz how does sebi have jurisdiction over hindenberg? Its registerd in Nyork Also if kotak acted as per short selling laws, then they cant be questioned either. So what is SEBI after??? If Adani shares crashed so much then may be there is something because at that time many were selling. Hindenburg does this in the US also against American companies and in other countries also. No, actually it seems Kotak will be under scanner. Slander is a criminal offense, if you use slander to destroy reputation which can't be proved then a case can be made against you. Although Kotak is not directly responsible but in India you can make retrospective laws which can be made punishable, so one should be very careful against using slander directly or indirectly for profiteering, its even more dangerous if it is very high profile case. This is a calculated move by Sebi.

Agree SEBI has no jurisdiction, but still a smart thing that it has given legal notice. If Hindenburg ignores it, then they will be in legal trouble in indian jurisdiction, and their associates may even get arrested if found in India. Likely most indian firms will stay away from Hindenburg or anyone associated with them, and Hindenburg will never be able to start anything on their own in India. Besides, no one in India will take them seriously if they do a similar job with any indian company next time.
