This is one of the most scenic railways you can take in Czechia. A lot of things to see during the journey. I am glad, you liked it. Too bad that the old station building in Karlovy Vary had to be demolished. It had a unique neo-romanesque architecture, typical for the region, but was in a terrible shape of disrepair. The new Interjet trains are very good. They brought significant improvement in quality of service. There will be new units titled "ComfortJet", which will come with a control car, thus alleviating the biggest weakness of the sets. The city of Most, you mention in the video, was completely demolished between the 1960s and 1980s and basicaly moved two kilometers sideways to make place for lignite mine. That church you are showing in your video is one of the few buildings, which survived the city's demolition. Btw.: "Rychlík" is spelled in English something like: "Reekhleek". The Czech letter "Ch" is spelled more like "Kh" in English or "X" or "J" in Spanish.

The problem with this line is that it takes a detour via Ústí, so by car or bus from Vary to Prague is at least an hour faster, even though there are traffic jams around Prague.
@johnmehaffey99538 ай бұрын
I noticed that when the route was shown , I thought it can’t be that difficult terrain for the train to go straight across to the capital city rather than to take a inverted u shape journey, liked your comment
@Dqtube8 ай бұрын
@@johnmehaffey9953 The problem is that our railways are not sufficiently developed, many lines are in the same layout as in the Austro-Hungarian era. The terrain between Prague and Chomutov near the D7 highway is relatively flat. This alternative is available and a proposal exists for a VRT Poohří that can improve the area with a high-speed line, but it is just a decoy. That solution does not make economic sense because it is a low population region and it also prevents improvements to existing lines because no one wants to invest twice in the same region. So in reality, nothing will happen with this in the coming decades.

These better trains are all owned by our national railway company, private companes send 40+ years old scrap and be glad that you don't have more companies, you can't imagine that mess in tickets. In the past, it was simple, you just bought ticket from A to B and you didn't care about anything, now it's pretty complicated. You can buy universal one ticket valid for all companies, but it's mostly much more expensive on commercial routes where you can buy ticket from that company which is connected to specific train.
@CZpersi8 ай бұрын
@@PidalinDo you remember the times, in which we considered this 40+ years old scrap to be an actual upgrade? 😂 The national company has changed a lot in the past decades, but before that, it was them, who used to run the oldest junk and some routes feel even now like railway museums.

Regarding the Infopoint, on both Austrian and Czech Railjets it is where the conductor sits when not checking tickets. With barely enough space to move between trains. That's 250 average flats and unlike said flats, such hangar would have multiple massive gates. Heating bill would be enormous. Not to mention it doesn't solve a problem of trains braking down. Or the fact that technical requirements specify ability to work at temps below -20°C. Haven't seen documents for this purchase, but when Riga orders new units for city public transport, they request for workability within range -40...+40.

If you ever catch a non-InterJet train in the Czech Republic, I'd actually recommend to just purchase a 2nd class ticket. Most older carriages have extremely comfortable 2nd class seating in 6- or 8-person compartments! 2nd class tickets cost next to nothing - especially if you are a student with an ISIC card :) I've went on numerous trips throughout the Czech Republic (Ústí n.L. > Karlovy Vary > Mariánské Lázně > Plzeň, Plzeň - Praha, Praha - Hradec Králové, Praha - České Budějovice and of course Ústí n.L. > Praha). Most of these were during summer with a so called Summer Ticket (or Jízdenka na léto) which costs 695 Kč, or about 28 euros, for 1 whole week of unlimited railway travel on ČD trains!

Did I just see this right? Family zone AWAY from the wheelchair accessible seats? If that's the case, PRAISE THE RAILS AND MAY ALL OTHER TRAIN OPERATORS LEARN FROM THIS!!! As a sound sensitive, autistic wheelchair user, traveling my train is always sensory hell because of families being put right by wheelchair area, and in my case, children are some of the worst sensory overload triggers because of how they move and the frequency of their voice regardless of them talking or screaming. I know I'm far from alone with being a wheelchair user and just wanting to travel in peace and quiet, though of course not all wheelchair users have the same issues that I do, just many do have issues with people (often kids) not leaving their wheelchair alone and whatnot. For me it causes pain if people bump into my chair or mess with the spokes of the wheels, for someone else who might have issues with spasticity, sudden bumps and vibration may set off spasms which can be both inconvenient, tiring and painful for the individual. So yeah, sounds like a dream train if family zone is well away from wheelchair accessible space, and would also be the first time I see it!

Czech trains going to Germany and Austria are good, but trains to Poland are totaly killed now because of "some event" which is happening in the east. Sometimes you buy 1st class ticket and there is no 1st class wagon even when it should be there, or you have to move to other train for no reason on border and it's full of Ukrainians who very often don't even understand what seat reservation is. It's always important to find a train which has nothing to do with Ukraine, not going to Ukrainian border or something. I know our problems are ridiculous compared to war which they have, but you know, I want my seat and silence when I am going 8 hours in train. 😀 I was going to Vienna only once and it was pretty good train and Austrians are silent the same as Czechs in train, which I like. It's always hell when there are some adidas people who are playing some shit from their phones and you have to listen it for several hours.

I could highly recommend the secondary railway line from Karlovy Vary dolní nádraží (lower station) via the mountains to Johanngeorgenstadt (boder station from Czechia to Germany). This non-electrified railway line is very scenic rising up to 1,000 meters above sea level. It will be operated by CD untill Johanngeorgenstadt with a maximum speed of 60 km per hr. In Johanngeorgenstadt, you can change to the German regional trains to Zwickau (Saxony). Both railway lines are served by DMU's. Please note that there are two stations in Karlovy Vary: Karlovy Vary dolní nádraží (lower station) which is more close to downtown, serving the secondary railway lines to Johanngeorgenstadt and Marianske Lazne - and Karlovy Vary horní nádraží (upper station) which is more distant from downtown, serving the mainline to Chomutov - Usti nad labem as far as to Cheb.

4:04 That doesn't look like a very direct route; at around 80kmh average speed it's not too fast either. I suppose the train just follows river valleys the whole route?

Pretty much yes, plus it's meant to connect Ustí to Prague and Cheb

Суперский поезд! Вокзалы открытые все как я люблю, спокойный входы и выход. Без театра безопасности. Чистенько и ухоженно. Поезд прикольный, уже хочу на нем прокатиться.

did you say what the highest speed the train reached was? did I miss it, what was it?
@CZpersi8 ай бұрын
Highest speed is between 120-160 km/h, but only on short sections of the track between Ústí and Prague. Trainsets with tilting cabins are allowed higher speeds. Maximum allowed speed for trainsets without tilting cabins is 120 km/h. Average speed is around 80-100 km/h. Some curvy sections can be even a bit slower.

160km/h, but set is capable of 200

Great trip. Bit curious, why the route is going north first until Usti and then going south to Prague, rather than directly east? Or there isn't direct rail from Vary to Prague?
@wimex90628 ай бұрын
There is no direct line between the cities, so you either have to go north via Ústí, or south via Plzeň
@jmsmilfajt8 ай бұрын
There are just some regional railways directly east that are 60 km/h or so. Technically it would be possible with a diesel locomotive. But it's certainly better to use the major routes with speeds around 120-160 km/h even if that means going extra kilometers.
