Hello :-) I'm glad you liked our service, even if "slightly" delayed one... I was the train manager / conductor for a part of your journey (Bohumín- Prague)... You also forgot to mention that we got stopped in Zábřeh na Moravě for about 30 minutes, due to a collision of a train going earlier with a person (suicide / accident). Memorable night indeed.

Weather delays and other delays can happen anywhere with airlines, trains, and buses... It is what it is... If you are driving 300 kilometers or 200 miles, you will most likely encounter road construction delays as well...
@Pidalin2 жыл бұрын
@@ronclark9724 But in Czechia it's standard, you always expect at least 10 minutes, if it actually goes on time, everyone is really surprised and people are running to catch the train because nobody expected it beying on time. 😀 We have maximum 160 km/h, but you spend most of they time with 0 km/h by waiting somewhere in middle of rapeseed field. 😀 Problem with our trains is that our train network is too busy and we have stations and crossings every few hundred meters, so it's not possible to put all those trains on that tracks, it's possible only theoreticaly in time tables, but not in reality. In main corridor between Prague and Moravia, there is train every few seconds and if only one train has problem, entire country is 2 hours delayed because almost all trains are somehow related to this main corridor. I just can't believe that they still didn't solve that, they are still doing some upgrades to have more capacity, but it's still worse and worse, they just have to build entire new corridor with another 2-4 tracks, there is no other solution, optimalisations work only on paper, not in reality. As a person who uses trains since childhood, I see that problem escalated when they allowed private companies riding on tracks, there is just too many trains now, you had one train on one route in the past, but now, you have like 3 trains on same route from different companies, they should never allow that.

Private companies don't have restaurant wagons, I mean real restaurant in train, not some buffet or person with coffee and snickers with mobile cart.

I only took one sleeping train in my life, and it really contrast with this luxury one. The one I took was a TLK train to Jelenia Góra / Žilina (the train was divided at some point). I got on in Gdańsk, a major city in the north of Poland, and left the train in Bielsko-Biała (a city in south of Poland). It wasn't very luxury because it was cheap (TLK stands for "Tanie Linie Kolejowe" - Cheap Railways). The coaches were old Slovak couchette, and I think it had a trainwide heating system because it was very hot (and it was in January!). Also the train was from Gdynia Główna station (only 20 km from where I got on), but it was already like one hour late when it arrived on my station, they said it was because of overhead wires failure.

After watching the video I’m impressed with how upgraded the experience was for this traveler. The rail noise of the track clicking was absent. The fact that Žilina is now last stop in Slovakia instead of Púchov is logical. Púchov is not a regional city hub, just a local rail hub. Watching the video is hitting me with the nostalgia feels. The sleeper cab looks first class vs the 6 cot sleeper cabs we were in years ago.

5:40 "These are called DDm, from what I can tell, these seem to be ex-DB": No, they are ex-ÖBB, built by Jenbacher, hence the number with A-ČD (A for Austria). They are similar to the DB DDm 915 but have a differently shaped underframe. ČD repainted them to dark blue. As for the tables: They seem to be difficult to handle for the crew, I have heard of complaints from newrest/ÖBB about this. So for the new nightjets a different solution will be found (exact details have not yet been released).

There's not always passport check, they only can ask you for passport. Usually they just walk through train with police dog (searching drugs etc.) and ask suspicious persons to show them their ID card. So they will just look in your passport but not give any stamp or some border procedures :)
@romanc1892 жыл бұрын
Schengen space doesn't mean totally free moving. You still to have valid passport or at leas eu ID card (or visa from some countries). Police or customs police still can stop you and check if you have some of this valid things. Schengen space only means that you can cross border without border search and check valid passport (and tax and tolls paper for goods in car etc). I would say it's same as cross US states. For example on highway D8/A17 (Czech/Germany border) you can see every day czech and german police patrol between tunnels on Czech side. Most of time only sit in car and looking but they are there.
