Great video! I likeFrench comuter trains. The part where you bought a ticket from the ticket machine reminded me of my trip from Nice to Monte Carlo .. I really miss the good old days when it wasn't a problem to travel anywhere. I wish you all the best and lots of great trips in 2021!

Thank you, nonstop eurotrip! it's actually "non stop" right now with you! Another wonderful video. You explained very well. I know the route, of course, by heart. Before, the TER only made Marseille / Avignon center, it is only recently that it makes Marseille / Avignon TGV. Very well designed I think. Funny anecdote: with mom, when we were at Avignon station, we could have taken the TGV back to Marseille. Of course, I persuaded her to take the TER which stops at all stations. I argued it was a bit cheaper (3 euros less) lol. But at the time, 2 years ago I believe, we came across an old Corail, well I don't really know what, but not recent like this one. We made the most of it anyway !!! Otherwise, I did it again last year for Lyon / Marseille. He stopped at almost every station. That way, I know the stations well. 2 hours more journey but 3 euros less, it's worth it. Thanks to you !!!

If you plan to visit the beautiful Avignon it's possible to buy only one ticket from Paris to Avignon Centre at 20,60 € including the 1,60 € transfer from Avignon TGV. It''s the same thing with Ouigo, TGV inoui or others that stop at Avignon TGV , even from Barcelone, Amsterdam or Francfort, and probably from London by the Eurostar to Marseille). You must choose "Avignon Centre" as final destination. From Paris to : Avignon TGV : 19,00€ ( TGV inoui : 60,00) Avignon Centre : 20,60€ ( TGV inoui : 61,60) And its available for all the cities that have a dedicated TGV station (Valence TGV, Aix en Provence TGV.....)
@NonstopEurotrip3 жыл бұрын
They should include the city/ local connection for free on all larga distancia/AVE services, like RENFE do.

When we went to Avignon via TGV, there was a shuttle bus that took you to the station - I wonder if that still runs? Public transport in the area seems to be nicely integrated - when we went to Arles during that holiday, I was sold two return tickets that were valid on either the bus or the train, whichever we preferred or was more convenient! An excellent system.
@NonstopEurotrip4 жыл бұрын
Thanks good, I wasn't aware of a bus but there probably is one 😊
@AnnabelSmyth4 жыл бұрын
@@NonstopEurotrip It was early January when we went, and on our last day it snowed heavily, not something you expect in the South of France. We went to catch the shuttle bus (this was in 2009) before the one we needed to catch, in case of delays, but the driver was on time and drove quite beautifully, no skids or alarms, even on the icy bits. The train was badly late, of course, but we still just made our connection to the Eurostar.

I stayed at a hotel with kitchen only a few minutes from the TGV station. I took this short trip daily to Centre to connect to the surrounding cities. When we left for CDG, we got on the wrong TGV and arrived at Gare de Lyon. Luckily, I knew the city well enough that we had no trouble using the RER's to make it to the airport.

Used this service back in May 2018 to connect off the Eurostar from London. Very convenient. Unfortunately on the way back the SNCF (but fortunately not Eurostar) were on strike, so we had to get a bus between the two Avignon stations. I do recommend Avignon for a few days away. Beautiful city, and yes, I danced sur le Pont d'Avignon. Avignon is so easy to get to, at least in summer when Eurostar run their LondonLilleLyonAvignonMarseilles service. Lets just hope Eurostar survives this dreadful plague and restarts this service. And maybe you could do a review.
@NonstopEurotrip3 жыл бұрын
Good old French unions eh 😅 doesn't sound like Eurostar south of France services will be back until at least 2022 if Eurostar survive. Personally I'd prefer open access services to start on the routes instead of the ES monopoly 🤷🏻♂️😎
@chriswood52053 жыл бұрын
@@NonstopEurotrip Me too, but I suspect the additional channel tunnel regulations, and France's less than wholehearted adoption of open access, would be mountains too high to climb for open access operators.

You'd think that SNCF would include the local connection to Avignon centre in your TGV ticket. 🙄 I live in Northern Ireland and if you travel on the Enterprise express train to Belfast, the ticket allows you to use one of the local trains from Lanyon Place (formerly Belfast Central) to one of the other city centre stations eg Botanic, Great Victoria Street.

I've been to Avignon TGV and took a bus into Avignon Centre because the local train was cancelled that day. Compared to an equivalent local transfer in the UK (3-5km perhaps?) 1.60 Euro one way is ridiculously cheap - about 1.40 GBP. On our local buses it's 2.20 GBP (IIRC) if you just jump on a bus and 4.15 GBP for an all day train and bus ticket after 9.30am i.e. about 4.80 Euros.
@NonstopEurotrip3 жыл бұрын
On a normal TGV the transfer would be FOC (just book to Centre, not TGV station) It's only because I arrived on Ouigo it wasn't included.
