I will never forget Randy Moss, I believe he is the best WR of all time, and is my favorite player. I remember being 12 years old, and watching Moss in the Bowl Game in 1997, I saw that he was the best football player I had ever seen. Fast forward to the fall of 1998, and my dad and his co-workers were doing this thing called "Fantasy Football". My dad and 9 of his co-workers were going to do the draft, the Host of the league handed out a cheat sheet of players. Moss wasn't listed on the sheet of top 50 WRs on the cheat sheet. I asked my dad to take Moss every round, finally in the mid rounds, he said okay. The entire room of adults looked at me with a shocked face when I stood up and said "Randy Moss!!!!" before they all burst into laughter. Saying "He isn't even on the list!!!!". Then moss played, and a couple weeks later, someone is trying to trade me and my dad BARRY SANDERS for Randy Moss. My dad wanted to say yes and take sanders, I would not allow it. Moss was my dude. We won that fantasy football season (largely because of Randy Moss). My dad let me keep the prize money too. Ill never forget that thanksgiving game. My family was on vacation in Lake Tahao, after a long day skiing, we arrived to a restaurant well after the game started, bursting into the TV area, I asked someone watching the game. "How is Randy Moss doing?" He said, "He is doing okay.... He has 3 catches.... for 150 YARDS AND THREE TOUCHDOWNS!!!!" It is a certain time and place in my life I will never forget. Thank you Randy Moss

Funny story about Randy Moss. After his first game as a rookie (in which he caught two touchdown passes) a Buccaneers DB was asked "Is he the best rookie WR you've ever played against?" The guy responded something to the effect of "I think he's going to be the best receiver I'll ever play against." That guy was right.

But the one I know most is how Randy always used to pick up my mom and throw her over his shoulders and carry her down the hallway. And Jason Williams was basically a jerk lol. He was always the one that was getting into trouble in my grandmas home economics class. My grandfather was the school coach as well as history teacher at the school and he never really had a problem with Jason. I’ll have to refresh my memory by asking my grandma for more.

My favorite Moss moment(s) are when he'd catch those bombs from Culpepper in the very back of the end zone. He was in his prime so was running like the wind an then he'd slow down at the very last moment, take those quick stutter steps, plant both feet 2 inches from the back of the end zone, and catch the pass over 2 defenders outstretched arms. So surreal and beautiful. Nobody else could do it like that...

I'm 67 yrs old, and in my lifetime I have watched a LOT of football, even played in Jr High, Hi school, and college. I watched Jerry Rice's career because I was a 49'ers and Joe Montana fan. I live in Huntington, WV, the home of Marshall University where Moss played for 2 years before being drafted in the NFL. I've seen his talent first hand, in person. I can honestly say, having watched literally every wide receiver in college and the NFL over the last 50 years, Moss is the most talented athlete, football player, and wide receiver I've ever seen. Yes, Jerry Rice leads Moss in the stats in many categories, and is considered the GOAT. That's only because Rice had a 20 year NFL career vs 16 for Moss. But in my opinion, Moss stands head and shoulders, talent wise, above Rice and all the rest. He was called The Freak, as he really was a freak of nature. Athletes like him may only come around once in a lifetime, and I am fortunate to have witnessed him in my lifetime.

Randy Moss was unstoppable in just about every sense of the word, really the only thing that ever limited him were the years he was in poor offenses. Defensive coordinators would have to put so many resources on him to try to stop him and he just did whatever he wanted.

Back loaded contract, 1 reason why Red McCombs traded #84 in 2005. The serious money was coming up due on the contract and McCombs didn't want to pay it, and he also traded Moss as a final "F-you" to Minnesota before selling the team to Zygi Wilf because McCombs didn't get his 100% publicly funded new stadium from MN taxpayers.

Jerry Rice is up there with Tom Brady as best players ever. We’re talking constant production and professionalism (and rings) for 20 years. And especially for a skill position, it’s hard to explain how incredible Jerry Rice was when he was playing at a Pro Bowl level at 40 years old. But in terms of freakish, scary ability, I’m not sure if there will be another player like Randy Moss for a long time. This guy was so scary as a WR that teams would slant their entire defense in his direction to prevent the deep ball. We’re not talking about a simple double-team or even triple-team… he changed the entire defense on his own. Even when he faded and retired and came back with the 49ers, teams were still slanting their defense to prevent him from going deep when he was split wide. The fear of who he was still intimidated NFL teams many years after peak. It’s hard to explain how scary this guy was to people who didn’t get a chance to watch him.
