I remember getting to see him live on TV take down the big 3 in Miami and win a ring! I am a Clippers fan but Dirk will always be my favorite NBA player because I like how against all odds he still won a ring. I like the list but I think Bird should have been #1 and Magic #2, because they saved the league. Bird should be over Magic, because Magic had a lot of talent around him - Magic got them to work as one powerful machine. However, Bird was different. The Celtics finished 10th in the Eastern Conference the year before Bird joins the team, then Bird is a rookie and the only roster change, and the Celtics win the Eastern Conference. The Celtics won the Eastern Conference eight of the next nine years. Then, Bird gets a season ending injury in the fifth game, he is obviously the only roster change, and the Celtics finished 8th in the Eastern Conference. That is a testament to the greatness of Bird. To put that in perspective, when MJ retired the first time, the Bulls still finished third in the Eastern Conference without MJ. I can also see the argument for Russell being #1 because of his 11 titles; however, Russell was surrounded by a lot of Hall of Famers throughout his career, which is why I would have Russell #3. Kobe did not have an instant impact on the league like Bird, Magic, and Russell which is why Kobe probably should not be in the top three. However, that does not take away from Kobe's greatness and loyalty to the Lakers.
@ericanderson7059 Жыл бұрын
I give Magic the edge by a" baby hook" because of his winning a championship as a rookie ( the game 6 performance is the best ever by a first year player )the 5 rings to Bird's 3 and lastly because of the following quote " He's the best I ever saw / seen " ---Larry Legend .
