Watt is so loved in Houston that he can live here for the rest of his life and not have to spend a single dime. I'm not kidding, we love him and everything he did for our city, even my friends who have no clue about the NFL know him and appreciate him. He's straight up royalty in this city tbh and I love that he has mutual love for the team and the city.

People forget his rookie year, when 3 little kids lost their parents and were all hospitalized after an accident. JJ told his people to go take care of their bills while he also visited them and let them know they were not alone. He just said that he heard their story and being new in Houston, he could empathize with being alone. Also swore everyone to secrecy. If a hospital employee hadn't blabbed, no one would have ever known.

I was expecting absolute destruction but they came together and recovered faster and stronger than I ever could have imagined and the biggest contributor to that was JJ Watt and let me tell you that city absolutely loves JJ Watt.. JJ was so loved in Houston he was Houston.. at any given time anywhere in Houston you’ll look and see at least 1 person wearing a 99 jersey.. the city had some of the most spirit for all of their sports teams of any city I’ve ever been too and the people are great and so hospitable..

@@dafuzzbear7711 Problem would have been the salary cap, cause there is no way JJ Watt would have taken a pay cut to just play with his siblings. Considering the reason JJ retired was partially due to health concerns, and partially due to his newborn child, unless the Steelers can match Watt's contract demands, there is no way he is coming to Pittsburgh on the cheap (Steelers also only had $11M of free cap space, Watt's contract with the Cardinals was $14M on average).

Man, the image at 1:46 took me back. I met JJ Watt at some private event by an oilfield company in Midland, Texas in 2012. We had a chance to ask him some questions so I asked why he wore 99. He said it was because he wore 9 in high school, and when he wasn't able to wear that number anymore, he decided to double it up and go with 99. It was a much more interesting answer than I expected honestly, I thought it was just because it was the biggest number but apparently there was more to it than that. This may not be the most interesting fact in the world but it's a special one to me.

One of the most dominant defensive players in the history of the NFL in his prime. Thank god for wade phillips for insisting on that draft pick. Also bugged me how he raised all that money for houston after it was devistated by a hurricane and ppl baselessly accused him of stealing the money even though he made all of where it was going transparent throughout the whole process. They were looking for a reason to hate him then.

As a perpetually disappointed Texans fan JJ was the only reason for me to watch a Texans game. Soon as he was done I was done with the franchise. I refuse to give time, money or energy to such a poorly run organization that wasted the talent of so many amazing players. If he had a training staff that would've kept him from doing crossfit bro style workouts he never would have gotten that completely preventable back injury. Thats something they left out. He like so many other players was injured by lifting weights.

As a a grown man seeing history from my childhood house to support Houston Texans. I was so upses with JJ’s dominants. I was 8 years old at the time when I hear him was drafted and see his dominants in 2012 all the way to 2019. That’s how good he was. Until the younger manager drop JJ and D. Hopkins. And that’s another down fall for the Texans. Two good players at the time for the Texans were A. Foster (runner back) and a Wide receiver, Andre Johnson, before Hopkins comes in after Watt was chosen for the Texans.

Don't blame them at all for leaving. It was a clown show here in Houston. I feel with certain people gone and DeMeco at the helm we're finally moving in the right direction.
