Like you said, as a lifelong ram fan who remembers AD getting drafted, i fully get it. Let him walk off on top, healthy, to go live his life. Hopefully we still get to see him around the team in the future, but he gave us more than we coulda asked for. Give it time, like 10+ years for the recency bias to go away, and the respect for this man will be on another planet, people dont understand just how good he really was.

Like you, I’m a life-long Rams fan, but too young to remember the GSOT Rams, so most of my life growing up they were bad/mediocre. Since AD showed up, it’s like a brand new franchise. Will never take for granted watching him dominate on defense, week after week, like only a handful of players in league history have. Just so lucky this legend played every down with the horns on his helmet. Thank you AD, for everything. Get that #99 in the rafters. Like you said, the greatest Ram ever.

"He revolutionized the defensive game" No, no he did not. He exemplified it played at a very high level and will be known as a gold standard example yes. But he did not do something like Floosbury (high jump 'flop') or Gogolach (Soccer style football kicking) where the sport has to be measured in a pre and post their involvement era. Nothing about him fundamentally changed the way that any aspect of the game way played, aka "revolutionizing" it. One of the best of all time (measuring across eras is inaccurate and unfair) but I just dont like seeing that terminology thrown around where it doesn't apply so often.
