I grew up in southern New Jersey about 30 minutes away from Philadelphia. Back in the 90s our church group took a field trip to the spectrum to watch the Sixers play the Hawks our group got to go down to the court before the game during warm-up and meet the team, I was able to meet Manute Bol and I shook his hand. This day, I will never forget how cold that hand was. I’ve always assumed it’s because it took so much time and distance for the blood to get from his heart to his hand and back to his heart that never had a chance to warm up.😂

I actually was at the Capital Centre in 1985 when Rookie Manute got his first start as a Washington Bullet vs the Milwaukee Bucks. He had 11 blocked shots in the first half. Bucks adjusted to him and he had only one in the 2nd half. He ended up with a career high 18 points as Washington won in OT. I saw that fight with Oldham on TV. Bol could have murdered him with those whip arms!! The "My bad" phrase was already being used by HS kids in 1987.
