Yes she forced Dusa to take a break by firing her, but that could of easily been solved by, yknow, actually talking to her, and hiring more help so she wasn't spread so thin during times she really was overworked. It didnt help that, yes, both Nyx and Thanatos did use the whole 'you are a god and she's just a measly gorgon head' argument AT LEAST once or twice. Nyx dumb strategy only worked partially...Dusa knows how to take breaks more, but she's still under appreciated and still overworked a lot of the time.

Naturally, as you progress your relationship with dusa, whether you return persephone to the underworld or not, Nyx takes notice of it and get her fired because she thinks she oversteps Zagreus boundaries and because Dusa is such an overzealous worker that she is afraid she won't do a good job for the house in the end.

@@Amferam Dusa isn't a dead shade. Its a bit more complicated. She might have been killed before but she herself isn't dead like Eurydice. She is very much alive. Medusa was killed and apparently her body manifested as a living species of monster in the underworld called simply 'gorgon heads'. They are mostly non-sentient. Dusa is an exception. She was discovered and Hades interviewed her for the position of maid due to her determination to have a roof over her head and work hard for it. Not only did he give her his approval and make Nyx her supervisor, Hades absolutely forbade anyone from investigating whether Dusa was more deeply connected to Medusa herself, daughter of primordial gods Ceto and Phorcys. Even Achilles in his Codex found this suspicious. (Depending on the lore, Poseidon might have horribly wronged her, which is why Hades was so generous to a non-god like Dusa.) Its highly suggested that Dusa is actually the Gorgon Medusa's soul reborn as a monster, and that Dusa remembers every bit of being Medusa but doesn't want to talk about it.

Nyx's Authority and Work ethics really does make when you think about it. It's basically summed down to "Work smarter, not harder" mentality. She expects Dusa to work with efficiency and Restraint,Not simply through hard devotion and Over timing. That way might make other workers lazy and they'll expect and take Dusa for granted by enabling to do their work and knowing how much of a sweetheart Dusa is she'll be more than happy to take it but that'll only stresses her out too much and she'll eventually become a burden...as Nyx stated.

Thing is Nyx admits she didn’t even see the need to give her a warning. Whatever feedback she thought she gave Dusa was lost in personality between the two and she never checked to see if Dusa actually understood what she meant, she just assumed she wasn’t listening. And also acted kinda racist by never referring to her by name. Sure her advice in the end is sound, but she implemented it completely ineffectively. I love Nyx so I feel like I can ignore this whole bit because it has no bearing on any other character interactions, but it really is bizarrely done

Earlier in the game I seem to remember overhearing a convo with Dusa and Nyx along the lines of Nyx is telling Dusa to clean A, B, C, D etc and when she's finished with the last thing on the list that should be time to start with A again. If that appears in the same "canon" of Dusa getting fired for working too much, that's rich. There are some bad mangers who try that stuff or something similar, tell you to spend your time and focus doing something and then punish you for doing it (bullying).

Don't think I had this happen in my playthrough, and ngl I'd probably like Nyx a fair bit less if it did. Obviously Dusa is the most pure being in the underworld and didn't deserve this, but even ignoring that this whole conflict seems weirdly forced with poor judgment on Nyx's part. Like I get that crunch culture is a real issue, but could she not just like... had Dusa take a break? Maybe suspend her from work if it really came to that? Heck, you could've even had it be a misunderstanding where everyone else knows that Dusa would be back eventually, but Dusa herself is so fixated on work and so worried about getting in trouble that she interprets temporary suspension as being fired indefinitely. Something like that would've at least given her an opportunity to learn from her mistake if she was really in the wrong like Nyx implies. As is, this just feels weirdly callous and stubborn of Nyx, and when Dusa does come back it doesn't even feel like she learned anything from it. And why would she? she just got fired and re-hired for basically no reason, so if anything it gave her reason to work even harder than before. Just a really weird conflict in a game full of otherwise really well done ones.
