that's what happens when you put racing pads to drive on the road. They are designed to withstand a lot of heat and abuse, so they are larger and really hard thus more friction but also put more strain on the rotors.

Apparently the carmax I went to had a type R that was white but I didn't see it so I went with the Si they had, and weeks later I saw a guy with a type R with carmax plates and got really jealous, but I love my Si ( 2018 year model, lunar silver ) and I'm 50/50 on deciding whether to trade it for a Type R or build the Si to match the type R in power

@yawny97102 жыл бұрын
The race pads need to heat up before the get super sticky and quiet down. Usually you don't want race pads on a daily, as the pads don't grip as well unless you are constantly getting on the brakes which you normally don't do for a daily. He did say he wanted to put street pads back on in the video.

@Raúl Gómez Pérez use more fuel doing this. A very very small amount, but still. If you leave it in gear with the throttle closed, no fuel goes into the engine. If you let it idle, some fuel is used.
@LeFrez2 жыл бұрын
@@BenLovrien it's really an American thing, I see it in sooo many videos. Tbh it is poor technique. Leave it in a gear always, except when you're stopped. Then into neutral, clutch up.
@VanillaWahlberg2 жыл бұрын
Definitely keep it in gear until under 20 mph, always, for me. I downshift into 3rd or 4th after even highway cruising because the onramps near me are steep. Definitely don't want to downshift into first while moving either. That short shifter looks heavenly though.

He has one of the best 6-speed manuals in the business and he puts in an aftermarket transmission??? Best part is when he says "it might grind in 2nd". Car was perfect as is, now has all kinds of issues for sure. I'm all about modding too but not just for the sake of modding. You don't mod something that's already perfect and now has issues. Do the exhaust and the intake cuz the car sounds like nothing without it. But replacing that fantastic transmission with an aftermarket setup is crazy, especially now that it grinds in second LOL! I love watching someone who's so crazy into modding that they'll even take the best aspect of the car and mod it, making it 10 times less reliable and essentially making it worse than it was to begin with. What a waste
@kidstarr1002 жыл бұрын
The transmission isn’t aftermarket it’s the shifter assembly, hybrid Racing and Accuity instruments has a kit for the Type R. Also the second gear grind is a trait in Honda transmissions cause of the synchros that Honda uses
@Daveyboy_RS32 жыл бұрын
@@kidstarr100 hey if the guys got money to burn then that's cool. And yeah I meant the shifter assembly but I wrote transmission. Point is that I've driven my buddies type R many times and he's got a few simple bolt-ons like an intake and turbo back exhaust since the type R really sounds like nothing stock.... But I've driven it dozens of times for many hours and there has never been any type of grinding in second or any gear. In fact, I have driven 992 Porsche 911 manuals, which are generally considered the best manuals out there and the stock type R shifter was right up there with it if not even better. Every other manual I've ever driven in comparison to the type R feels long and vague and rubbery. All I'm saying is that I couldn't imagine that shifter being any better than it was from the factory. Especially when it's aftermarket, because then you get aftermarket reliability. Regardless how great those two companies you mentioned are. This is my personal opinion and I think it's completely silly to even touch one of the greatest manual shifters of all time.
@cognitivedissonance57742 жыл бұрын
2nd gear grind is basically non existent in 20/21 models of the FK8. 99% of the time if it ever occurs (rare) it's going to be driver error. There are basically 2 versions of this car and it's not spoken about enough.. the 20/21 are the perfected FK8s
