I am a big fan of alternative ways of sequencing, especially those with grids - or with a grid style, and so when I spotted the Noodlebox at Signal Sounds.com I knew I had to buy it. The Noodlebox is a dedicated standalone sequencer specifically designed with Eurorack systems in mind. It has a ton of features, is nice and portable, a really interesting interface, and is probably the best value modular sequencer out there.
In this video I talk about why I bought it, give a bit of a demo of its basic operations, and highlight some of its most interesting features (as well as a couple of things to consider if you're interested in buying one).
--- I post all of the music I make, including WAV stems; sample packs; Dirtywave M8 song bundles; collections of video textures; early access to videos; and a whole pile of other stuff on Patreon. I know I know, I hate doing this as well, but if you like what I do and want to get more of it, while also helping me offset some of my ludicrous gear purchases, this is the best place to do it:

If you just want individual sample packs or downloads of video footage to use in your own projects, get them on Gumroad here: gumroad.com/al...
If you're in the market for new gear, my favourite place to find new and interesting synthesizers and other electronic music gear is Signal Sounds. They are based in Glasgow, but ship all over the place and often have stuff nobody else does. Find them at www.signalsoun...
If you're in the US and shop at Perfect Circuit, you can click through to see what they have in stock just now through my custom link. I get a small commission for any purchases made, which keeps me stocked up with whisky and beard oil. link.perfectci...

I've one (No. 150) and I also love mine! It is such a joy to use both aesthetically and feature-wise; I love the Euclidean gate patterns, and the 'loop' length, position, and reverse functions.

The Noodlebox is so dope, I see you using it a lot! Question.. did you get this in 2022 or end of 2021? And what was your favorite gear purchase of 2021?! The M8? Just curious. Mine has to be the C64 and SEGA stuff! 😎🐀

If I understand your video right, one could use that to trigger chopped drum loop on a mono phonic sampler like a microgranny. I guess every values would be control on the unit. I don’t know enough about the microgranny, maybe another midi layer on the noodlebox can control the values. In fact, does the noodlebox can send CC?
@StephenMcLeod
@StephenMcLeod 2 жыл бұрын
Yep! I mentioned that a bit after the basic workflow stuff. You can send out modulation as well - either by CV or MIDI CC. :)

Is that a midi over trs cable you’re using? Where’s that from?
@StephenMcLeod
@StephenMcLeod 7 ай бұрын
For minijack MIDI you can just use any old bog standard 3.5mm aux cable, so long as both devices use the same kind of MIDI standard (type a/b).
