Sol in the past made 8 magic weapons powerful enough to kill a Gear. 2 of them ended up in the Order's possession and when Sol left the Order, he stole the Fuuenken (Fire Seal). So Ky took it upon himself to make sure Sol returns the sword and took Fuuraiken (Thunder Seal) to do so. Even in the Order days though Sol never liked Ky, the rumor being that Ky reminds him of what That Man looks like.

Sol let her live cause in fact she's her daughter. yeah it's nothing but crazy i know but if you research the whole story of the game you would be able to understand. The human body of Justice was Aria the sol's lover and colleague in the gear project. Before she finally turns into her gear body, she had a daughter, this is Dizzy... and his father probably was Sol indeed. So if you keep on mind this, sin is the sol's grandchild, and he is a half gear. interesting, right?
