They probably made it "Enchanting Table" because "Enchantment" feels closer to the meaning of a spell rather than the action of imbuing an object with a spell ex. "What is he doing?" --> "He is *enchanting* his sword"

One thing that bothers me with the list seen at 1:50: They renamed "Brick Block" (+ nether variants) to just "Bricks" - ok, fine They renamed "Clay" to "Clay Ball", so they can call "Clay Block" simply "Clay" - Fine. Seems like they want to get rid of redundant "block" words in favor of making item names more consistent. Heck, this even fits to the other ball/block pair "Snow Ball" and "Snow"...oh wait They renamed "Snow" to "Snow Block" Though I like the chainmails and wheat seeds. Feels like changing them was well overdue. The old names kind of were a leftover from when we didn't have any other "chain" and "seed" items.

I think it's important to mention that the patch notes (linked in the description of the video) explicitly states that these name changes are for parity with Java Edition. The changes are simply (what bedrock used to call it) -> (what it's called in java edition). All of these observations apply to Java Edition already :P (Brick Blocks are called and have been called just "Bricks" in Java edition, etc etc)

Enchanting table is the most correct name for it I think. If I got the slightly different meanings/grammar stuff right (non-native English, so could be wrong though); enchanting implies that the table itself performs the task or at least plays a major role in the active process (which is more or less what happens in my opinion - it determines what enchantments are put on it and consumes lapis in the process), and enchantment would imply a more passive role. That it's like an ordinary table on which you do all the work and it's just there to have things at a more comfortable position.

I'm not sure what's technically correct but I see the suffix 'ment' as something to be done or has been done while 'ing' is currently in the act of doing. So they are both correct however I agree that 'ing' feels more active while 'ment' feels more passive. P.S. You shouldn't use my opinion as a general guide on English if you're still learning. In reality the difference is negligible and is largely based on semantics/ personal connotations.

To be honest, it makes more sense linguistically to call it an "enchanting table", as it enchants items. If it was called an "enchantment table", it denotes that it somehow has or contains ennchantments, but does not actually apply them. Think like a chest that can contain the specific enchantments.

Is that not what it does? The enchantments are held within the table until a player interacts with it. This is proven by the fact that the enchantments don’t change unless you use the table.
