To answer your question about the creeper not blowing, typically creepers need direct line of sight to target you. They were punching it around corners to keep breaking that line of sight, thus canceling the detonation repeatedly.

I've started playing in beta 1.6.6 and it was wild. In 1.7 pistons got added and then people came up with new stuff. For some reason I'm surprised that I've been playing Minecraft longer than Phoenix. I can't explain it, but I always expected him to have been playing for longer than I have. I started in Beta 1.3 (1.3_01 IIRC). It's really insane when I look back at the version I started with and the current one, and to see how much it's changed. It doesn't even feel like it's been that long, but it's been 12 years now.

8:34 This is incorrect. Due to the nature of how everything else was flipped the diamonds should fall upwards upon being mined. However, in this case they are technically falling towards the ceiling.

you can tell they’re using the same trick logstoneable came up with 9 years ago by the orientation of the torches and fences during the cutscene and the lava after the flip. It’s a great illusion, but it only works if you carefully limit your block palette to hide the smoke and mirrors.

2:05 Yes, but the updates were like, Alpha 1.0 - redstone, Alpha 1.1 - Compass, Beta 1.7 pistons, Adventure pre1: Enderman + hunger ,1.6: The Horse Update, so it was many small updates and now they make rare big updates, so I'm not sure if it would be good or not
