Since I hadn’t used these in a long time I started thinking I should sell them, but as soon as I pulled them out to test them I realized I couldn’t! 😅 #guitarpedals #tonguedrum #experimentalmusic

Love this so much! Beautiful and hypnotic. What is the red print on you Hydra? Is it the info for the shit function?
@JohnLRice2 ай бұрын
Thank you! 🙂 Yes, Meris has clear vinyl overlays you can get for their small pedals to show the alternative functions. www.meris.us/product/alt-function-overlays/ I do wish that Meris, Strymon, and other manufacturers would just print them on the pedals to begin with! 🤷♂

@@JohnLRice this is amazing! Thank you so much! The hydra is the core of my petal board for a mono synth. The pedal isn’t complicated, but I alway need to look something up. Also, I’m just seeing a type in my post. I meant to say “shift function”, not the other thing.

@@douglasl2409 You are welcome! I'm the same way, I don't use any of my pedals with hidden settings often enough to remember how to use them! And yeah, I figured that was just a funny typo so I didn't mention it. 😄

Lovely. How is the drum mic'd, please

Thanks! 🤗🤗 This EOX Drum came with an optional internal triple piezo pickup array installed. The piezo disks are stuck to the inside of the shell and there is a 1/4" jack bolted to the shell. It's really convenient and works well with guitar pedals, although I think it picks up a little too much of the slap and not enough of the resonating tone of the tongues? Do a search for "JourneyTek Passive 3-piezo Pickup" to see a similar pickup, although I don't know if that's the brand that was used. I also have a couple different magnetic ones that work well too, so long as your tongue drum is made of steel. Search for "Meinl Sonic Energy Magnetic Pickup" for instance. I have also have an "AKG C411 condenser transducer mic" that just attaches to the drum with a sticky substance and that one probably sounds the best but it's also the most expensive. Using good mics and a good mixer with an effects loop will probably sound better than the piezo, magnetic, or stick on mic type, but for convenience and especially for live use to avoid feedback they are great! 🙂
