I think the biggest problem with this build is that for the first 7 levels you are focusing on a Wisdom/Dex based character then Switching to a cha build? I think it would be much more efficient going Oath of the Ancients paladin (you get cha to all saves and resistant to all spell damage so much better then 7 levels of ranger) then go your hex blade. Because you are now a charisma based class for the chasis you can fully invest in charisma and have a +5 to all saving throws, resistance to all spell damage if you FAIL a saving throw, all your attacks are made with charisma thanks to hex blade which is also your modifier for counter spell.

you might even want to go paladin 1(for armour)/warlock 1, then paladin 7 or warlock 5 depending on wether you want aura or counterspell earlier then switch to the other. After you're warlock 5/paladin 7 you can go for your remaining 8 levels on either, or even dip 2 in fighter for action surge. I'd go for paladin 9 at least since that way you get more 3rd level slots for CS and 3rd level paladin spells like aura of vitality. you also get to snatch an ASI at paladin 8. then paladin 13 or fighter 2 and paladin 11. although let's be real, nobody plays that high.

Once again no mention of paladins oath a 7th level oath of ancients paladin gets +cha to all saving throws and HALF spell damage. Combined with the magic resistance you are more than likely going to be taking only a 1/4 of all spell damage. So a wizard casting fireball becomes a joke as you only take 2d6 of the damage

Or, in Pathfinder, just take any martial class, take a whip, and ready action to perform a steal combat maneuver when "Anyone within range takes out spellcasting items". I mean, sure, you end up with a pile of holy symbols and bat guano, but hearing the GM screaming is well worth it.

If you want to hate on casters just be a Monk. Their insane mobility will get them to the target across an entire battlefield. *Stunning Strike* will lock down any caster who doesn't have solid Con saves, and their great damage output will carve through the caster's mediocre HP. On defense they have *Stillness of Mind* and Evasion to protect them from evocations, and mind-whammies. Monks are the mage's natural predator.

you forgot the rangers trio! hunters mar, spike growth and wind wall! hunters mark-extra 1d6 of dammage type and advantage on perception and survival checks you make against it spike growth- 2d4 damage per 5 feet traveld, in a 20ft radius (good for slowing down enemies and 1st turn surprises(put it right ontop of a enemy and they take 8d4 damage just to get out)) wind wall- 3d8 bludgeoning on a fail save or half on success, but its better use is stoping arrows, bolts and ordinary projectiles hitting you, also traps all fog, smoke and gasses, and small or smaller flying creatures from exiting at all (use with 3lvs in sorcerer meta magic to cast windwall and spike growth at the same time)

Hear me out: top off the build with 7 levels in Rogue. Evasion means those pesky Evocation spells designed to main the whole party functionally do no damage to you.

Ok, just after he brings up the slasher feat, did I miss something? He says "...but even crit fishing aside, if we hit with both attacks, our target starts off their turn with only 10ft of movement..." I get that he's referring to targets with the typical 30ft movement speed, but doesn't the slasher feat specify that it only applies the speed reduction effect once per turn? Unless he's randomly referring back to Lance of Lethargy, but that also specifies it only procs once on each of your turns. You would have to hit with both an attack that deals slashing damage and at least one Eldritch Blast. Since we don't have the war magic feature or any other means of making an attack nor casting Eldritch Blast as a bonus action, the most you can reduce someone's speed by in a single turn is 10ft.

Should be noted, that the main effect of Slasher, that lowers their movement speed, only works once per turn. Like a level 11 fighter can't just completely immobilize anyone with 70 or less movement

Best build 14 levels abjuration wizards 1 level hexlock equipment half-plate and shield. Spells take shield and armor of agatha's. Have resting ac of 19 reactive ac of 24. And even if you do get hit. The poor bastard who did so is gonna take 35 points of cold damage and gd help him if he didn't hit you for all 35 points of temperary hp cause he'll take that damage everytime he swings. Oh and your resistant to all spell damage and have advantage on all saving throws from spells.

I'd probably delay Slasher in favor of more CHA sooner, but otherwise sounds fun. Don't forget, since you're using UA, you can pick Favored Foe and Deft Explorer instead of the normal Ranger 1 features, which is just better.

I mean.... Satyr Ancient Paladin? 7th level you'll have: • Advantage on saves vs Magic • +CHA to all saves while conscious to all allies within 10ft. (+3 in this example). • Resistance to damage from spells for all allies within 10ft • (In addition to your Wis and Cha save proficiencies which make up lots of spells) you can also get Dex save proficiency at 4th level with Resilient and with Shield master at 8th it starts to become overkill. • Cast Bless on self All the ranges go upto 30ft at 18th level, however there are non race locked ways of doing the first step. Instead of being a Satyr, choose whichever race you want (there will be good options) and then take Pact of the Chain, and get Magic Res whenever your Imp Familliar is within 10ft of you.

Magic Resistance is not new to 5e. Yuan-ti Purebloods have the exact same ability Also I personally don't like UA-based builds, UA is technically not in the game and if it eventually gets released it can (and often does) get nerfed.

A bit late to the party, but at level 11, monster slayer rangers get the ability to deny teleportation in a 60ft area around them. On top of counter spell, which can do the same. Nope Gote is tricky to get away from.

Ranger? Really? The combat class that doesn't get a second attack at level five? If you want to do something like this you take six levels of wild magic sorcerer with a halfling. Then you can turn lower level spell slots into more third level slots to feed into dispel magic and counterspell. Take Distant spell to counterspell out to 120 feet, and quicken spell to fire off a cantrip in the same turn you dispel something. If you want to be silly about it then take two levels of divination wizard.
