When the fighter tries to establish contact, it's semi-expecting to be engaged when it passes the nose by the violating aircraft, when there's no visible armament that expectation is lowered drastically. There's a secondary interceptor flying 30.000 feet and up and up usually in a following slaloming pattern behind the violating aircraft and it is ready to go into a dive and engage with A2A sidewinder at moments notice.

On a GA aircraft? The second aircraft is definitely not above 30k'. It will be following close behind in a racetrack pattern while the lead aircraft turns cold to preserve range.

You will typically be escorted to an airport and met by authorities initially. Consequences range depend on the intention and severity of the violation. e.g. a family member flying the plane that got lost when the pilot had a medical issue vs. a intentional terrorist act.

The real question what if the aircraft that is intercepted decides to keep flying thru the restricted area. Are they really going to shoot down a cessna? C'mon, unless it penetrates the air defense zone along the coastline, nothing happens.

well if it had been the hijacked airliners on 9/11 would you say the same thing? Four unarmed commercial airliners would seem as small of a threat as the Cessna but yet over 3,000 people died as a result of those attacks. If a pilot ignores the warning and decides to keep flying through the restricted zone, they are making a conscious decision that poses them as a threat to national security and they assume that risk for doing so.
