Meat and Seafood Street Market In Santo Domingo | Dominican Republic

We are back at a popular market in Santo Domingo called Merca Santo Domingo. In the last video we looked at fresh fruits and vegetables sold here compared to the supermarket. This time we are taking a look at the fresh meats and seafood and compare it to prices at the supermarket. It is located off of Autopista Duarte heading toward Santiago. You can find very good prices at markets like this verse the supermarket. However, supermarket prices are also reasonable. Tysm Nor for updating us on meat prices!!! Conoooooooo! But meat there is FREEEE, compared to us here! & It's FRESH food vs. us. Btw, "El pierna de res" is for adding extra flavor to your Sancocho, or collard greens, etc. Omg, I got so hungry seeing las costillas de chivo lol, & una sopa de mon'don'go con limon' i salsa picante' RULES! En Florida norte picó y pala es "country cut up". Todos los partes del pollo. También mi última vez ahí no se que gente en tu país usan libras y no kilogramos. Estuve en el supermercado y mi amigo me pregunta "cuantas pollo quieres " y respondo "un kilo" y dice "que el carajos?!?!? Quieres pedir para drogas?!?!? No usamos kilogramos aquí para carnes". En Republica Dominicana utilizamos una mezcla del sistema métrico y el sistema anglosajón para las transacciones diarias. Por ejemplo para el peso utilizamos libras (lb) en vez de Kilo (kg) y el volumen lo medimos en galones (gal) en vez de litros (l), sin embargo utilizamos kilómetros (Km) en vez de millas (mi) y la velocidad se mide en km/h no en mph.

I love Goat meat lol. It's depends on how you cook with right spices and slow cooking. Meat prices are very low compare to ny, nj we pay average good beef is $7.99 and up for a pound. What is the good super market chain there?

You should have asked the butcher why people buy the leg. It's mostly bone with little meat making it ideal for broth. Are there any spices market's I'm Santo Domingo?

The prices are cheaper than here in NY. I'm wondering why some of the vendors felt uncomfortable with filming. It could be used as a form of advertising to a broader band of customers and the counter personnel don't necessarily have to be in the footage if they don't want to and there's no release forms needed. SMH
