Great job and many thanks, we loved the catering and hair references in the credits. We have purchased a second hand 5 HP so this was very helpful to us.

Peter, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to share your knowledge and for producing such quality videos to help us all. You've saved me hours of time and frustration, and I so appreciate it. Consider me a Peter O'Keefe fan for life.

The thing with Nords is that they're designed to essentially be one function per knob/button, maybe two with the shift button. Everything is labeled really easily, broken into sections, and organized well. On my first encounter with the Stage 3, it took barely any time to get the idea of setting up splits and layers, tweaking sounds, and really just feeling like I had a hang of it. This was all just trying it in a store. I really love their keyboards, and it's great that videos like this exist for the incredibly new people that may not understand keyboard interface yet.

You are the best! Just got my Nord and it looked very confusing, since I haven't played with one earlier. With your tutorial I got the idea of this beautiful instrument. Very high quality hands on training!

I Just got a Nord electro 6D today, it is indeed a bit confusing but I do love it. Many thanks for going through this like you are doing, 5 Star my friend!

Very well done Peter; thanks for taking the time to put these together. Making the jump from the original Nord Electro (2) to this one is pretty daunting. You've definitely helped clarify how to navigate this very powerful keyboard!

Got the Electro 5D a couple of weeks and this is what I've been looking for instead of going through a clunky user manual. Thank you for this! Although, never heard of the work "bracket" used instead of "set list" before :D

You are my hero!! I just bought this exact keyboard - it's only my 2nd keyboard (after a lifetime of playing just a piano) and my first Nord!! I've been looking at them for 3 years but was overwhelmed by the "spaceship controls". Finally bought one so you'll help me figure it out!!!!
@flamwork067 жыл бұрын
wdwnutjm how's the key action? Are there touch settings for piano?
@wdwnutjm7 жыл бұрын
it has really nice action - not weighted keys but somewhere in between (I think it's semi-weighted). I don't know the answer regarding touch settings, but I don't think so. again, I learned on a "real" piano and I've only been playing a keyboard for the past 4 years.

Used a borrowed 5D last night in preparation for a Gospel concert. I agree with earlier posts that it definitely isn't easy to use sight unseen. The layout isn't intuitive or novice friendly at all. But it sounded killer though. On another note, I wish this video used over-the-shoulder camera footage so we can have a better vantage of the controls he's pushing. But I digress...

I have a 4D, which is very simple to use and understand, this was a stretch and I have not sold my 4D as of yet because I still don't feel comfortable on stage without it. I know with my 4D I can grab a sound and go and make it sound how I want it to right then and there for the music that is going on, while the 5D with its pre-gig set up needed is not nearly as stage friendly.

first question I had (which I didn't find in the manual) was how to unlock it so you can actually save things like sounds, playlists, etc. as you change them - I think I found it under settings. (buried in some user forum as I scoured the internet!!!)

Tutorial is great, I understand A lot of it. But I'm bit stuck on the very first move - with the Program button lit, it won't let me select organ sounds. The light comes on but goes off again. I understand the split part and have that switched off, but not managing to toggle between organ/piano/ synth. I'm sure this is something really basic but I can't figure it out from the manual. Experimenting, I may have something switched on or off without realising. Grateful for any help, thanks!
@selkie776 жыл бұрын
Problem sorted, but thought I'd leave it here in case anyone else does it...didn't realise you have to double click to toggle through....worked through whole tutorial now, it's fab. Thank you!

I miss the live section where you could easily just pick a few instruments and set them to four presets and they would always be there, if that is still there on the 5D it is not as apparent or as easy to comprehend.

You've neglected to mention that the Piano and Sample sounds can all be easily swapped out and replaced. The Nord Sound Libraries are totally free.

This is a very overwhelming keyboard. I have the Electro 5hp. I'm kind of wishing I would have gone with a Korg or Roland. I will check out a few more tutorials but then I may end up selling it. I'm feeling pretty stupid about now. The only redeeming factor for me is that I only paid $1,500 for it and I think I am may could get that if I sell it

The manual seems to be for professional players who already know how to use similar instruments. So basically I read it and it gave me nothing.

I'm the new user with nothing but the lousy manual to get me started. Your videos did not help me at all because you went straight to demoing sounds and left off the basics of CHOOSING the sounds. "Hit these 3 buttons in this sequence to invoke an upright piano." I hoped that in the 2nd you would go through the basics but you went directly into setlists.
