Finally got to hold the Norda 005 and I cannot believe the level of engineering that went into this shoe. So far this is one of the shoes that has amazed me the most at TRE!

Just thought I would help with some of the details you mentioned, the midsole is Arnitel / TPEE ( not with vibram ) . For the upper material, it's the weave that was done with less material and in a way that allows more breathability and drainage, nothing to do with stitches. Thanks for taking the time to talk about our latest shoe and I look forward to both of your reviews once you try it on the trails ! 😎

Looking forward to this even at the $$$, I’ve been wearing 001 for a couple years, 1000+km on my 1st pair and 400k on the 2nd and still going strong, so yea, you pay more, but the durability/longevity is worth it. I’ve worn 001 in 100k races, no blisters, feet feel great after and next day, so i am sold, even at $$$ and love supporting small CDN brand!

It seems that a new generation of TPEE foams is coming! The new Saucony superfoam is also a TPEE. Seems Adidas was early to the game with Lightstrike pro! Remember the discussion on the Tecton X3 about how at least some Peba foams don’t seem to handle water very well and the Lightstrike of the Speed Ultra did better? Wouldn’t it be exciting if TPEE turns out to be the better superfoam for the trails?

Is this considered a trail super shoe? Does a super shoe have to have a plate? This is by far the shoe I was most excited to see. Glad it’s been getting some great comments.
@ConversationalPace
@ConversationalPace 2 ай бұрын
I don't think a trail super shoe has to have a plate. I think what makes it super is if it helps you get from A to B faster than a regular trainer. This is going to work far better on technical terrain vs plated super shoes due to it's better adaptability to the trail. Of course I'll get to the bottom of this and let you know for sure once we get them in and put them through the full testing 👍

Especially non-plated shoes. Reduced recovery time from plated super shoes is a game changer. I still buy from EBay though 😂
@ConversationalPace
@ConversationalPace 2 ай бұрын
@@kellenscott555 I think one of the biggest factors that drives the price of this shoe up is the quantities that they build the shoe in. They're probably dealing with a few thousand of each size, whereas if they got to make 50-100k of each size, those sorts of bulk discounts would hugely help. Regarding reduced recovery time from the plated super shoes, there is increasing evidence it is the foam that is the biggest helper and not the plate. In most of these shoes, there is a plate to aid in propulsion a little bit, but mainly to help control the movement of the foam in the right direction and provide stability. many shoe companies are starting to figure out different foam geometries, widths, and other plate materials to still allow runners to benefit from the foams, but without the potential negative side effects from running too much in stiff plated shoes 👍

On the spec, They look like the GOAT trail shoes for me. Light weight, grip not too much stack TPEE foam But …. 325 $ 😢 too expensive for a trail shoes that last 500km…
@ConversationalPace
@ConversationalPace 2 ай бұрын
I imagine that the price is a product of producing these in limited quantities, getting exclusivity to the Vibram Megagrip Elite for the season, etc, but I hear ya it's a massive investment for some footwear. On another comment, Zach Garner said he is at nearly 800 miles in a pair!

@@ConversationalPace thanks for the answer. I Hope you are right about the milles . As I understand TPEE could be similaire as lightstrike pro for example ? . In my experience on my adidas shoes they start to fade away after 500km. Finger cross the norda foam might be better ? we will see !
@ConversationalPace
@ConversationalPace 2 ай бұрын
@@guillaumecovat2117 Yes, to my knowledge it's the same material as TPEE. Interestingly, I have always found many of the Adidas Lightstrike Pro shoes I've worn to be some of the most durable. The TPEE is likely sourced from a different factory and is a different blend, so it very could be better!

Is dyneema really necessary on a shoe whose midsole/outsole won't last? Just use standard upper materials and knock a good $100 off the price, no?

@@ConversationalPace At norda, we use bio-Dyneema for lightness, protection, strength and durability. We embody the philosophy of lighter, faster, strong. With this ground breaking material, we can make the shoes protect the athlete, and reduce the weight to increase their efficiency. Almost every other brand who uses generic upper materials have had the experience of their shoes tearing rapidly. Example Rich Lockwood used one pair for his training, then to 1st Place at Run Rabbit Run, then he used the same pair at UTCT to a 7th place at UTMB Cape Town. Rich is one of the top runners in the world, and his pair had over 700 miles (1,000km) in them before he took the start line. Most pros start races with fresh pairs, but norda's are make with the finest available compounds, and our elite norda trail team puts 1,000 miles into our super shoes - no brand that I know of has or can do that

I'd have to do some digging around and especially in regards to cushioning and weight, this has got to be one of the top ones. Adidas Agravic Speed and la Sportiva Prodigio are on the lighter side, but at least a full ounce heavier than this 005

@@ConversationalPaceThanks! If I have my conversion correct these new Nordas come in around the current Kjerag, which also looks like it’s getting lighter and taller. That might make for a great comparison of the super light durable trail racers, Kjerag 2 vs Norda 005. Seems like they might be close ish in stack height too although I’m a little fuzzy on the Nordas.

That's the reaction from many, however if you have the opportunity hold the 005 in hand, you will realise this is a Trail shoe like none that has ever been made before. Made with nearly 100% bio-Dyneema (the lightest, strongest material on Earth 15x stronger than steel by weight), and a 100% Arnitel midsole, and the Vibram Mega Grip ELITE (Vibram's finest rubber ever created and exclusive to norda 005), it's not a shoe, it's a Pagani. Where do you live, will let you know who will be the closest retailer so you can see it?
