When I get bored with other boating videos, I like to come back to this one. I especially love the ocean waves on the trip after you leave San Francisco. Absolutely beautiful and exhilarating.

That was a great video! I watched on my 100" projection and so I felt like I was on vacation with you. It was a little scary outside San Francisco with those giant swells. I'm glad to see the Nordhavn handled it well because I will own one someday.

I really appreciate the effort you made in sharing this journey. I especially enjoyed the open water shots with the following sea. The dolphins added a special touch too! Excellent video, thank you!!!

I'm a Nordhavn dreamer right now, but I'm curious about yearly maintenance cost on a boat about your size. Other than something big like a haul out, would you mind sharing a ball park figure. Thanks. I've heard about 10% of the boat value, but talking with one of the Nordhavn guys in Seattle, he said he ran the figures and came out to about 3-5%. Thx again.

Great. I think I could spend my time doing this. It would be tough, but I'd find a way to get it done. :-)

Good day Rick! great vids I would love to know how it worked out with the Yanks and you and your boat. I see your boat is registered in OZ - did you buy her in the US or OZ ? Do you have to pay US tax on the boat, if so in which State do you pay the tax? How long will immigration let you stay and does that include your boat? I have been right around the US and Canada in a motor home and loved every minute but the problems we had was how long we could stay, which was only 6 months plus half way around 911 happened and that mucked everything up! I would love to buy a boat and do your US trip plus the East coast and Great lakes and if I am still alive pop down under. Thanks again for the great video All the best Chris.

Hi Chris Thanks for the comments, We didn't have any problems with the Yanks at all we like all travellers were restricted in our time of stay at 90 days but the boat had a 12 month cruising permit. Depending on which state you are in the length of time the boat can remain varies e.g. California is 6 months, Oregon no limit and Washington State 60 days then you have to extend, so its important to check each state tax rules. We took possession of our boat in international waters off the US coast therefore avoiding any taxes and our boat is Australian registered.

+SeikiBrian I spent a lot of time at Elliot Bay and although I ate at the eatery below the Palisade Restaurant many times I never ate at there.

+Rick MacClure I'm glad I asked; I didn't know there was another restaurant below Palisade. I'll have to check it out. Thanks.

Hi Rick. I watched this video for a second time and I have a question. Does your boat have trouble maintaining her heading in large following seas? I have read that boats with "Modified-Displacement-Hulls, such as Nordhavns, have a tendency to skid sideways in a decent following sea because the aft sections are flatter than those in a "Full-Displacement-Hull". It seems Samurai is doing some of that in the video. I know you love your boat, but please answer honestly. Thanks a lot.
@rickmacclure9 жыл бұрын
Jeff Puha Hi Jeff, Yes you are right in what you say but in this case no, the N60 has a full length keel and is not just an "add on" so there are no steerage problems, the screwing in the video was because the swells were 20 foot + and we were heading slightly off square to them and under those conditions the boat handled extremely well.
@jeffpuha81879 жыл бұрын
Rick MacClure Hi Rick. Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate it. Yes. I understand what you mean about the N60. It's good she's not an "add-on". I'm glad she's not a "wanderer". :) SAMURAI is a lovely boat and I hope you have many years of happy, fulfilling voyages in her.
