The Future Fly material looks great! Hope it makes to the US soon. Very impressive movement in the water. Thanks--very informative. Regards.......

The other two pieces of zonked looked good still for smaller flies. So it isn't truly waste. I do like that clip. I cannot buy from future fly though and it isn't very big here in the U.S. that I am aware of. The only stores that sell materials within 50 miles do not carry future fly. All the best to you Daniel, I really like your tutorials. Sean

+Sean Mooney Well Futurefly is a small, but growing Danish company. They dont have the bulk yet to sell to the US market. So that is probably why you dont see them in the us, yet!

Well, I hope it grows fast so I can get some of that prime fur. All the best, Sean

Daniel: The future fly stuff looks exceptional. But what about another way to get the job done? Take the thick zonker and cut a diagonal from tip to tip. You'll instantly have two tapered wings out of your too-thick piece, with no waste at all. Why cut two slivers, one from each side, when a single diagonal will do what you want more quickly and with nothing lost?

+Immanuel Can Ahh....I get it. Of course. The second wing would be reversed, wouldn't it? It wouldn't be useful anyway. Ha. It took me a minute.

Nice offort, but you're wasting a lot of hide. You can cut perfectly tapered strips free-hand. Hold the hide in your left (non-dominant) hand, and cut it with your right hand using a super-sharp razor. Cut from base to tip. The trick is to separate your strip from the rest of the hide using a left-hand dual-grip. Grab one side with your index and middle finger, at the same time pull away the other side with your thumb and ring finger. When you've cut a few cm move your grip down - follow the razor. Once you're good at this you will never cut off a single strand of hair! Also there is no reason to align your strips perfectly with the general direction of the fur. You can forcibly comb the hair. Also just fishing the zonker will set it straight. This is without compromising perfect results in the end. Consider these pieces of advice and you might be able to make a lot (a lot!) more flies out of that one hide. Cheers! :)

I would dearly love to visit your shop, ask a million questions and buy about $10,000.00 worth of stuff. It's just too bad I'm not rich....... I can dream though.
