@@NordicarClassicVolvoParts I did need to rent (free) a hammer puller to get first drum out as it was a bear in a cave. The hammer puller was 1,2 3 free.

Great and well-made video. The music is 100% annoying and not needed. But thank you for a great video.

The first tool you mention is a torque wrench. What needs to be torqued down? Thanks.

Can I ask, if the driveshaft has too much play (in/out) would that cause engagement issues within the diff? I am having issues with the right driveshaft when reversing, juddering, whereas rear left is fine.

In the film, it was forgotten to soak the felting in the seal with oil. if you don't do that, the filtring will "burn" and become hard. Also missing some explanation about the amount of grease on the wheel bearing,Too much grease leads to heat build-up and increased friction, which reduces the lifespan of a ball bearing. Otherwise an indicatively good film.

How is it done on a Volvo 145?
@NordicarClassicVolvoParts5 жыл бұрын
Very different than on for example the Amazon, impossible to explain here using words only... Maybe we will create a new video for the 145!

On the left wheel are no shims?
@delukxy4 жыл бұрын
It may have just one thick shim. Final shimming done on the other side as shown here. If it happens that you are only going to replace the bearing on that side you may be lucky enough to just be able to set the correct play by using it. If it is less you will have to get a suitable set of shims to obtain the correct setting. If too big, add shims as needed. Generally you will replace both bearings so so listen to the advise here about the shims.

What am I missing here? If you use shims on only the right side, you say it should be .10mm. You have 3mm between your flange and bearing race. You added 3.1mm of shims. That comes to 6.1 total. But you said it should be .10mm. What don't I understand?
