I love your recipes because there's no a ton of prep time and it's easy to follow. I love alone and don't like cooking for myself because of it being so time consuming and even though your recipes are for a large family I do like the idea of separating your portions into 2 containers and either freezing one or giving the other to a friend or deserving family. Tonight my son who will be 21 nov 1st asked for this for his birthday dinner he said I am telling you now in case you have to buy a lot for it lol. If he only knew how easy and inexpensive it is. I will replace the spinach with broccoli . WINNER!!!! I shared it with my sister and she and her husband said it is there new go to easy dinner. Thanks tons!

This looks great and so simple. I think my family will enjoy it. I really hate how KZbinr's have to justify what they are cooking because of trolls making negative comments. Well Noreen, I've learned so many easy recipies, I now can cook for both of us...Bart is eternally grateful and NEVER interrupts when I'm watching your videos - he knows something yummy is about to come his way. This was delicious! I made just half a recipe and instead of the separate seasonings, I used a Tablespoon of Lawry's seasoned salt + the parsley. Just FYI, the printed recipe omits the ham in the directions. Just stir it in with the rest of it.

I would not bake it before freezing. I would wrap and cool it them freeze and bake when needed either from frozen or thawed in the fridge overnight.

I made this last night, and it was AWESOME! We used broccoli instead of spinach (per your suggestion; my family is indifferent to spinach, but they'd eat a car if you put enough broccoli in it ;) ), and we went for more cheddar cheese instead of bread crumbs. We ate the whole pan, which probably makes us stupid (and fat!). But in our defense, I'm feeding twice the number you are, and several of them are strapping, active men, and you know what trenchermen they can be! This is definitely going into the rotation. I've done something similar with chicken before, but the cottage cheese thing was new. I could see leaving out the meat entirely, adding some more veggies (peppers, squash, cherry tomatoes) and making a vegetarian main dish out of it. (I try to do one chicken, one pork, one beef, and one vegetarian meal every week).

Noreen, is the cottage cheese and/or sour cream overpowering once it's cooked? Just trying to decide if my kids would eat this. I think me and hubs would but not sure about them if it's got that "tang" to it. :-)

This looks really good, but I was wondering can you freeze this? Does it freeze well?
@minnieg725910 жыл бұрын
the reason I ask is because I know that freezing cream cheese changes the consistency of the cream cheese, and I am wondering if it affects the cottage cheese. thanks

What makes it Amish?
@debbieklement581110 жыл бұрын
The Amish like easy casseroles that use things they normally have on hand....like,cheeses, noodles, and ham which they smoke themselves. Casseroles make easy meals on canning/harvesting/butchering days
@NoreensKitchenOfficial10 жыл бұрын
Everything about this is Amish style! From the noodles to the use of the cottage cheese, to the cubed ham. The Pennsylvania Dutch folks have a knack for making casseroles out of ingredients they have made themselves. Home smoked ham, hand made noodles, home clabbered cottage cheese and sour cream and home grown veggies. Amish food is classic and comforting. That is what makes this Amish style.
@dawnsky1110 жыл бұрын
Noreen, make a ham loaf!!! That's Amish!!!!
@itssewxtra171310 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking I was wondering about the Amish bit too. It looks delish and would make a good size meal+leftovers which is really nice. I feel bad that you have to preemptively explain the size of what you cook etc. because people are are so mean. You know they want to make it and eat the whole pan but are watching there carbs and don't eat dairy and blah blah. I don't eat gluten for an auto immune disorder, but nearly all of your recipes can be converted with say gluten free pasta. Yum can't wait to try it. Thanks again for another great recipe!!

I am assuming you made this and found it to be too salted for YOUR taste. Otherwise you would have zero idea how mine tasted. Thats my logic. Because if you simply commented about how this recipe tasted without actually making it that would be completely illogical.
