Greetings! Here is a blast from the past for me! I was inspired to make this after watching a video on KZbin that reminded me of the sheet cakes my mom and my ex-husband's grandmother used to make! Those were both chocolate based cakes, but this one TAKES the cake! The peanut butter cake that is!
This one is certainly for the peanut butter lovers out there! You could easily make this a peanut butter and chocolate cake by fixing chocolate frosting with peanut butter cake or vice versa. That would be an amazing taste treat!
This one is really easy and really quick. This will feed at least 16 servings and is great to take to a potluck or picnic because it will feed lots of people and is guaranteed to disappear!
If I had some honey roasted peanuts on hand, I would have scattered some all chopped up on top of this warm frosting. it would add just the right amount of crunchy goodness to this already delicious cake! This is super rich and you don't need a big piece to feel satisfied!
I hope you try this and I hope you love it!
Happy Eating!

Hard to believe this, but when l was a kid, the most delicious peanut butter cake l've ever had to this day, used to be served at our school cafeteria. lt was perfect. The cake part was so moist and the delicate, cracking glaze on top was rich, yet somehow not too rich or too thick. Yours looks and behaves just like it, and if it's what l think it is, l'll be so happy. Only one way to find out....

+FarmGirl Goo LOL! I know how you feel! I feel ya'lls pain! I was watching this video and trying to figure out a way to try and level my oven a little better. It's really out of whack and all of my cakes are wonky. I trim my layer cakes flat but this recipe will be easy for me to over or undercook just because it's so unlevel and the cake so thin.

Baking is a science. The ingredients are the way they are for a reason. Adjusting may give you an undesired result. You could certainly try to add more peanut butter but it will most likely not turn out right. This cake is very peanut buttery. You may actually wish to try the recipe the way it is written first and then if you need it to be more flavorful then you could play with it. I think that you will find the level of peanut butter flavor will not disappoint.

Great recipes !! I'm a fan. However, the primary reason for sifting flour into cake batters is to incorporate Air into the mixture. If you put a bag of flour into a container, then continue to tap it down on the countertop you will lose inches of air as the flour sinks. Sifting puts it back in.
@anndennis7163
@anndennis7163 6 жыл бұрын
Actually sifting flour was a way for our grandmother's to remove bugs that got into or hatched in the flour. Most sifting is no longer needed now that we have freezers and the ability to buy our flour in small amounts that are used quickly.

Lol on the removing the door off of a teen's door. Because my dad did the same thing to us. But my dad did it to our door which was me and my sister's room and he did it to punish my sister and not me. I was paying rent to him at the time and I felt that it was unfair that I have to pay rent to live in a shared room with my sister who was being punished thus our door got removed which gave us no privacy to change clothes and there were other siblings constantly walking in and out of our room. After months of not having our door replaced I politely asked him if I could increase my rent payment by $200 if he would replace the door. Guess what he said...he said if I knew that our electricity was going up then I should have just pitched in to pay for it without asking to get the door put back. Yea my dad was some kind of psycho. I'm glad I'm out of his house.

Noreen, I live in Ecuador. We have trouble here finding the kind of Gringo (not a negative term here-it just means, someone who came from another place) foods that people were used to in their former lives. That need was my impetus to write a book ("What's Cookin,' Cuenca?") to help expats find and make the foods they miss from their former homes. YOU ARE SUCH A GODSEND! (For instance, it is impossible to find cottage cheese in Ecuador! Thanks to you, I make it every week!) I love your recipes, love your family, love the way you tell us how to do things! I just bought a slow-cooker. I had two of them in the US and NOTHING that I tried worked well in them, but your recipes--PERFECT! Thank you a zillion times!

I watched this yesterday and couldn't wait until the store was open this morning to get the few things I needed. I just put it in the oven. Question: after melting the butter mixture, do you leave it over heat to add the flour mixture and then the egg mixture? Well...I did bc I thought your video had you still mixing everything together on the stove. It was gummy when I put it in the baking sheet and it didn't quite stretch out in the whole pan. Let me know, ok? Thanks Noreen. I just hope it tastes good if I did wrong by keeping it on the heat.💕

Hi there ….this looks better amazing recipe. Never ever had this type of cake..I’m going to try making it. My question to you is regarding your measuring cups. They have big lettering on and was wondering where you got them?

Hi, thanks for your comment! This video is kind of old. I don't really even have those measuring cups any longer but I think I got mine at the dollar store many years ago. I had two sets at the time. Here is a link to a similar set I found for you on Amazon that you might want to check out. amzn.to/4bsDOGv Hope that helps!

+Noreen's Kitchen Would it work to add a tad of cocoa powder to your yummy peanut butter icing~ in place of an all chocolate? My family is going to love this! Tnx hon!

You can always make the frosting from my original Texas sheet cake which is chocolate. That would be nice for a "reeses" style sheet cake.

You should cut the bars to let the frosting go down the cracks, hot meals we eats all the time.

Hey there Noreen, I was just wondering if this peanut butter frosting will be ok to put on a round cake if I was to somehow make it alittle thicker.. this lady I know what a peanut butter cake with the old fashion peanut butter frosting that cracks like the one that you have here on a round cake.. Please help.. How would I go about thcking it up some to put on a round cake without messing it up.. thanks in advance

No. This is a pourable frosting. Adding more powdered sugar is going to make it way too sweet. You will want to make a peanut butter buttercream if you want to frost a traditional cake.

That is one beautiful cake ! Will be trying that soon. I always measure by volume. When you said 16 oz of powdered sugar...I thought 2 cups. (8oz in a cup). But you said 2.5 cups. I would have messed it up!! You said if don’t keep buttermilk, make a cup and that will be enough. Were you referring to powdered buttermilk or making it with vinegar and milk? Thanks, Noreen. Hope you’re still out there making is hungry 😊
