Norfolk-based submarine Scranton returns home

The fast-attack submarine Scranton returned home to Norfolk Naval Station Wednesday, August 17, 2011. The Scranton steamed more than 40,000 nautical miles during its seven-month deployment, according to the Navy. It was among the Norfolk-based vessels that launched some of the earliest Tomahawk missiles at Libyan targets this spring. Port visits included Portsmouth, United Kingdom; Souda Bay, Crete; Rota, Spain; Toulon, France; and Lisbon, Portugal.
