We went down there a few years ago and the council (I assume) had given it a proper going over with massive logs, mud, sticks, anything you can imagine that would stop us getting in there. Glad I saw them before they got filled. Cheers Chris and father!

Superb video and exlpore, really cool to see all those names signed there from so long ago! Think I saw 1932 and several from the 50s.

you can easily access the chalk mines in eaton through a small gap in the mud. If you head to Danby Park, Eaton and go to the children's play area. Simply head into the woods walking directly away from the play area. After going into the woods, it is on your right... about 2 pathways down. HAPPY EXPLORING!

I re-visited the Harford Hills mines very recently and I would like to ask WHO has sprayed "Norfolk Uncovered" across one of the fallen trees en-route from the mine? Nice to see some support from fans, but I would like to make it clear that I had nothing to do with it! It did make me chuckle...

Went in a few weeks ago- still open but extremely easy to get lost in (as I did) so it's advisable to check the marks on the walls, have lots of torches and have lots of people.

Me and my mate who live in Norwich decided to take a look through at about 1 am by ourselves and some torches, and we used your result map as guidence, but we found that some long routes weren't actually recorded on your map. So we are going to explore those routes and extend the map a bit more, also we found lots of artifacts like pots, cans, gloves ect, pretty cool :)

That wouldn't suprise me if there are tunnels missing on the map- there are so many tunnels down there! Hopefully you found that what IS on my map is accurate, and would be interesting to see what you come up with... So far, Harford Hills is the most extensive network we've visited. Thanks for letting me know :-)

you can still get into this mine. me and my friends were in there about 2 days ago. we walked around in there for a good hour ot two, we ended up going round in a big loop and on the way out came face to face with other people wich was a bit unexpected. make sure you have spare batteries or more than 1 torch. if you were to loose your light you would not get out

Thanks for the info- the chalk is soft and prone to crumbling- piles of chalk could be seen in various places while we were in there filming. It's a shame if someone has gone in and spoilt the direction arrows for everybody else- please refer to our map for directions. However, anyone who does go in there should use common sense and does so at their own risk- remember, the chalk mines are technically not open to the public and the entrance was probably filled for a reason.

I will have to get down there and see it - although I note that the Council have blocked the entrance. I would not have gone in very far, having had some experience and knowing what the dangers are - particularly of sudden drops as you mention in this film.

***** I am aware of that - I have already put up a film about going down such places - although in this case it was the former German fortifications in what is today Poland.

Once Upon a Timeline apparently they’ve been filled in. You’ve still got sovereign house though. The security there won’t let you get away if they catch you, but I’d be up for it.

Yeah the entrance is buried now, I know where it is within the wood if you want to try and dig it up.
@OnceUponaTimeline6 жыл бұрын
Hmm, sounds tempting, so the amount of dirt is something that can be dug? When they do that kind of thing in the USA, they will typically put like 40 dump trucks worth of dirt on so that we can't easily do exactly what you just said. ;-P
