Also the mid-19th century version/ancestor of received pronunciation (posh modern English), has a surprising amount phonologically in common with "drawling", non-rhotic southern accents, which you can hear if you listen analytically, we just don't tend to notice because the stereotyped connotations have drifted so far apart. The "old southern gentleman" accents, like the one Daniel Craig has in Knives Out, are evolutions of mixtures of mostly received pronunciation (which is non-regional) and working class Norfolk and Suffolk.
