I find short nap foam rollers give a better finish that micro-fibre or mohair and that using brushing thinner is a must, 15% at least.

I think your product is not customer focused. Firstly, you show mixing from one can into another. For economy, it would be better to show how to measure volumes and also provide a weight method. For instance, if one buys a half litre tin, then provided the weight of 50% of the base coat, and the weight of 50% of the hardener. This would allow smaller jobs with a quality outcome. Secondly its frustrating that the product requires a 16 hour re-coat for a brushed job. This means for three coats, one needs three days. That means you cannot finish an exterior job over a weekend. That's not customer focused. Yet its touch dry in one hour, and the mix stays useable for 8 hours ... and 8 hours is pointless, because paint jobs for these small can sizes don't take 8 hours. With a product that your instructions say for outside, might need 6 or 7 coats - that's over one week of fine weather, to get a job done. That's too long. It's not customer focused.

@@douglaslin5469 ideally one should spray these kinds of paint. Wet on wet it would take two to three hours to complete 2-3 coats with up to an hour wait between coats.

How long between coats when brushing the clear? I'm looking at doing 3 coats.

Hi, if it's Fibreglass, Shipshape undercoat with Northane is perfect for it. If its not Fibreglass suggest you call and speak with our tech department 02 708 2200

Hi, your local store should be able to order in the size you need if you ask. Otherwise, if you do a postcode search on our website you may find other stockists that can help you.

Hi. Great product. Have used it as a paint for years. But now I would like to ask if it is possible to use it as a glue ? Nice clear glue is the aim.

@norglasspaints 3 ай бұрын
Hi, Northane cannot be used as a glue, it's a nice idea but the formulation isn't correct. Thanks for supporting our products.

I need a product like this for my JetSki hull… Matt finish so abrasive surfaces don’t wreck it. Any suggestions? Or will this product be very resilient?
@norglasspaints
@norglasspaints 7 ай бұрын
Hi, this product is perfect for a Jet Ski, you can have a satin finish by adding our flattening agent, however having a gloss finish makes the surface a lot easier to clean. The product is highly durable and flexible and has excellent resilience.

How long is the mixed 2-pack useable? For small projects would I mix a smaller amount?
@norglasspaints
@norglasspaints Жыл бұрын
The mixed paint will harden (or become un-useable) after about 3-4 hours, so if you only need a small amount just mix up smaller quantities making sure you keep the correct 2/1 ratio.

Thanks for the video. I want to paint my old collapsible Portabote which is made from a very durable pvc. Is your product suitable please? thanks
@norglasspaints
@norglasspaints 10 ай бұрын
Hi, Northane is not suitable for this type of boat. You can use Northane to paint on numbers (such as rego numbers), but not for the whole boat. I am unaware of a suitable product for this, it would need to be a rubberised paint, suggest you ask at your local hardware or paint specialist. Thanks

How am i to work out the % of thiners to mill ? And being its 3% of thinners to roll the clewr on .. is that 3% for all total mills of cans ? Example 500ML till 1.000ML tin
@norglasspaints
@norglasspaints 17 күн бұрын
Hi, it's generally 3% of total mils you ae using, so if you are using a can of 500mls then you calculate 3% of that. Keep in mind in hot temperatures you may need to keep adding a little thinner as you go, as it will evaporate quicker. We hope that answers your question.

Whats thecrecommended grit of sanding PRIOR TO APPLICATION OF PRIMER PLEASE. 80? 120? ITS AN OLD 85 gelcoat, partially hull coming through duevto lots of residual paint layers. Thought to do 80 then 2 coats primer, 240 in between then 400, then 3 coats northane with 240 in between. Which roller, mohair or not; first comment was nap roller is better? Im in south east qld with. More than 50% humidity Thanks for your advice
@norglasspaints
@norglasspaints 8 ай бұрын
We recommend using 240-300 grit sandpaper for all coats, but 400 is fine for the finish coat. Short nap mohair roller is better. 50% humidity is ok, if it's above 75% then you'll lose some gloss level. Thanks

Is it advisable to remove most of the orange peel after the second prime coat or just a light sand? Can I leave peel behind, top coat paint is self leveling especially with 3 coats?

You need to sand as much as possible. Top coat will mirror primer. We suggest you call our tech line as there are several variables. 02 9708 2200

I've been having so much trouble applying the paint. The instructions are a bit light on details (environmental, film thickness, tipping brush). Of course I started thinking it's the product but I'm thinking it technique/environment more. I'm thinking low temp, low humidity, low wind is best but it's pretty difficult in QLD on the water right now. Always hot, windy, and humid. I tried tipping with a brush but the finish was worse than just rolling. The roller finish is very stippled. I tried sanding then up to 30% thinner to just try and get a thin last final coat. Finding it difficult to get a smooth sanded/buffed finish otherwise. Going mad.

@@norglasspaints truly nice to get a quick reply. I had a chat with the tech and give it another go with the tips. As I mentioned, the instructions are a bit light. Advice was humidity is most important (50% ideal), temperature and wind not. Thin film. Use a maverick foam roller. Best gloss from the paint not trying to sand and polish. Advised not to wet sand as prep but I have to break that rule being on the water and not wanting to spread toxic paint dust into the river. Hopefully it helps someone else finding this.

What happens when you paint inside with the humidity is higher than 75%
@norglasspaints
@norglasspaints 8 ай бұрын
If there is high humidity the gloss level of the paint will be effected, otherwise it will be fine. If you're inside suggest turning on air conditioning while painting if you have it.
