I have a JW-15 that was originally purchased in the mid 90s. The original wood stock on the rifle is beautiful. Maybe I just got lucky.

@camerl2009 I think I know what you are getting at and I agree, a matter of history and "feel". These rifles actually fill pretty much the same part of the new .22 rifle market that Cooey rifles once did. These are a good way to have a new accurate, reliable .22 rifle on the cheap. The Norinco .22's share a common feature with Cooey's - both have tightly bored barrels (about .221") and that makes them more accurate then you would expect for the price.

Hi, nice rifle, what about the Mauser look-alike Norinco, is the wood bad on it? It looked nice in your vid.

@TheNewfiesniper I'm with you on the sights, but I don't see why you would want "play" in the trigger, and the mag is as close to flush as most box mag .22 rifles.

Let's see a video of your rifle, I'm curious to see how it compares to other wood stock Norinco rifles.

@twogun1969 Yep, a knock off of a Brno #2. The Norinco JW-15A Compact is the exact same rifle with a 13" bbl. I was looking at the 13" ones at Moreguns Supply and I was going to order one but then I saw this 24" at Kevin's shop. Still thinking that the short one would be neat to have as well.

I don't get it... is this model not available in the States, maybe only Canada? Can't seem to find the "A" model you have. Is it "new" production?

@thiscouldntblowmore I did a bunch of ammo testing with this rifle back in the winter for a Part 2, but I came to the conclusion that my data was not much good because of the cold and wind. Thanks for the reminder, I will have another go at it if I can get in a day when it's not too windy (rare around here).

@Gungeek Indeed it would. I think the .22 Mag version is called the JW-23. I've seen a few of them with the wood stock and I can tell you that wood was definition of cheap and ugly. But if they make them with the plastic stock in .22 Mag I would buy one.

@Gungeek If the wood is not nice enough for making pallets they use it for stocks....

Given this is a copy of BRNO/CZ, how would you say the 2 compare in terms of shooting accuracy?
@314299
@314299 13 жыл бұрын
@TheNewfiesniper Most accurate rifles have triggers which have very little movement to them, it's just a matter of getting used to it. Since .22 ammo is cheap it's fairly easy and inexpensive to get in the necessary practice.

I wonder if it would be legal to buy a 2nd hand one from a person in Canada? Or even a new one? Maybe the "importation" into USA is all that is illegal from the outset, and maybe it is not illegal to do one of these things.... once the gun is imported. Does anyone here know?
@314299
@314299 12 жыл бұрын
Yes, this was a new production rifle, it is dated 2010 & I purchased it 2011. I dont think these are importable into the USA. To the best of my knowledge all Norinco guns are banned from import into the USA.

Jamming, magazines bending, misfiring, backfiring, etc. My cadet unit's Norincos spent two months at the Trentham Army Camp armoury being repaired. Before these we had the good 'ol reliable Enfield .22s of WWII vintage.

I have to ask you, I am thinking of buying wither the JW15A or the JW25A, given the choice and that you now have the experience, which of the two would you buy first ?
@314299
@314299 9 жыл бұрын
Reg Sparkes From a practical point of view the JW15 is superior as you can mount a scope on it in a much lower better position than you can with the JW25 due to the odd shape bolt handle, so for that reason I would go with the JW15.

Wouldn't it be safer to remove the magazine first before you pull the trigger to remove the bolt?
@314299

No. With the bolt open the rifle cannot fire, regardless of id there is a magazine in it or not. No difference.

True, though it might get people started in the bad habit of not removing magazines before they disassemble their weapons.

I can't complain about mine. the magazine is a bit unreliable. however upon raking the magazine apart I had discovered the spring was stuck under the lifting plate. easy fix. it's pretty darn accurate all the way out to 100 and even 150 yards. comfortable weight, decent stock. you covered it pretty well here. I'd give it at least an overall 7/10 when you factor in the price.

Just a short follow up,..I have bought the JW15A, just recently, the JW25A and the NS522. The latter being the better of the 3. I found that bolt removal and re-insertion to be very rough as is the magazine removal on the JW15A. Maybe some light sanding and or polishing may help . All in all, great little 'low cost' rifles, all bought because of your videos. I am glad, really, that I watched and listened to your videos.
@314299
@314299 9 жыл бұрын
+Reg Sparkes The NS522 certainly is the best quality of those three, although the furniture does leave something to be desired. Doing a review on Norinco products makes me somewhat nervous as the quality control is not always good and the example I review might be considerably better (or worse) than the other examples out there.

+314299 Shooting Channel Well the old rule of " Buyer beware " always, or should always, apply. I understand all these reviews are basically 'one person's' opinion, and when I buy because of what I have learned, then I know I am the one who bought it. So no blame for a differing items or quality variances goes anywhere but on my shoulders, so to speak. I appreciate all the work and effort that goes into a review,( almost any review ) and I view it knowing this ; And I appreciate the reviews for what they are, and thank the presenter for it.

I generally do like wood stocks better, but most of the JW-15 wood stocks that I've seen were the ugliest cheapest looking things I've ever seen. Perhaps you got a decent wood stock, I've heard that they do exist.
@314299
@314299 14 жыл бұрын
@yevgenz It's a bit unfair of me to say that all Chinese wood stocks are cheap and ugly, as some (like my M-14 and the JW 25A "Mauser") are not too bad, but some are simply terrible and cheap. The quality is just all over the place. I've seen a bunch of wood stocked JW-15 rifles and the wood on all of them was nasty.

It looks like a good candidate for fiberglass { barrel to stock } 'bedding' and a spray can camo paint job. If these make the US market I may buy one. I did get to inspect one in Canada last time I was there.... It looks like a rip-off or clone of the CZ-452 or BRNO which sell for about $ 400 USD or more with wood stocks which I happen to have one of.
