I saw him at a club and he bombed (I didn't even like his set). But a real Norm fan can get over it - the material he used that night he eventually honed and made it hilarious on a podcast. But that's a risk you took with him and Gilbert Gottfried. They were fearless.

My mom served as a waitress at a comedy club in Toronto around the time Norm was still working in canada, and she said there were countless times where Norm would just be wandering on stage and ramble about some tangent the audience was barely following and waltz of like it was no big deal. The guy was in his own world in her own words, and bombing and throwing a crowd off completely to him seemed almost more satisfying than landing his jokes. The guy was truly one of a kind

My estimation of him has gone up even higher than it already was. Conan is joking that he's homophobic for the fact that he didn't want to be sexually assaulted, at the bequest of an MTV producer, who should have been sacked and heavy sued for offering money to someone in exchange for doing that to Norm, who he has purposefully backed into a corner to try and do that to him. Good on Norrn for thinking quickly and avoiding that situation without resorting to violence, which would have totally justified in my opinion.
