I'm starting to think that half the appeal of Norm was that he went through life with the expression of an enthusiastic kid who just learned that people like to laugh at jokes and he couldn't help but be excited and happy for them.

Thank you! I've been trying to sum up what made him so unique and likeable, and you just described it perfectly.

Yep, he's like my friend Matt from high school, except Norm did that for 50 more years...

The delivery of that drifter punchline at the end is classic Norm. The little pause and emphasis on "DRIF-ter". I miss him already.

Norm should have answered the question about where he gets his ideas the same way Super Dave answered Adam Eget on Norm's podcast, with the same deadpan delivery, of course: "Don't ask me that again. That's the stupidest goddam question I've ever heard!"
@DrJRL2 жыл бұрын
Based on the date this may have been the inspiration for said question.

My gut tells me the guy's a square (which makes it even more funny), but I'd love to think he knew exactly what he was doing when he asked Norm where he gets his ideas.

Hey Happy, I'm really sad about Norm's passing and I had an idea to honor him, I noticed there's very few material of him on different languages, even fewer of good quality as comedy is notedly hard to translate, any chance I could take clips and translate them to Spanish? I've been meaning to make a few videos again and that just occurred to me after trying to get a friend of mine into Norm and realizing how little there is so it was nearly impossible. Even his Netflix special has really bad translation! It's insane. Anyway, hope you get back to me. Cheers mate. Thanks for all your work and this great archive of yours.

I love Norm. I'm sad he's gone, but he may have left us at the right time. All my other heroes turned to insalubrious stacks of dull dross before they passed over.

For those of you who think he is not uncomfortable. Poor Norm is in a room of the most unfunny people ever assembled and that grin on his face betrays the fact that he would rather be anywhere else. What other time have you seen Norm grinning like a r*tard?

"Do you get recognized on the street" is always the dumbest and most useless question to ask a celebrity. That's a, "I don't know what to ask so I'll just ask this" kind of question.
@danielstack41582 жыл бұрын
It is generally lame, but it's asked all the time. I think it's somewhat interesting to ask people of different levels of fame how much they get recognized. It's Norm Macdonald though, he's been on SNL, Conan, Letterman, Adam Sandler movies, etc. Of course he got recognized often.
