Kevin keeping it real. And nothing he said is a secret or a surprise. Anyone getting bent out of shape or calling him jealous simply hasn't been listening or paying attention. Norm took risks no one else would, in comedy and in Las Vegas, because that was who he was, not because he was being calculated or ironic about it.

Don't forget the original Weekend Update anchor Chevy Chase! And Jane Curtin from 3rd Rock from the Sun after him. Charles Rocket was amazing as well. In fact, Rocket was kicked off SNL just like Norm was. Though he was kicked for dropping an F bomb. I feel like there was an unbroken chain of great anchors all the way up until Jimmy Fallon. That's when the weekend update ended for me.

Going back & rewatching Norm, but now with the added context of knowing he was terminally ill, knew it, fought it, & kept it hidden, his comments have this new deeply genuine & profound insight. The greatest comedians, Norm being one, of modern day are truly our modern versions of life's greatest philosophers.

@@yourgameisstupid Who's "deifying" him? His gambling was well known when he was alive. He spoke openly about it. Norm rarely hung out with people he conidered his good friends. Nealon hung out with him a few times in 95' and now suddenly he was best friends with Norm. This hack hasn't said one good thing about Norm since his death. We can all read between the lines.

As much as I liked Norm, Kevin Nealon fit that role perfectly. I think it’s because he played it like he was a serious anchor. It’s just like in the Chippendale’s skit when he’s like, “I wish I could just flip a coin and be done with it, but we can’t…we’re Chippendales.” His sincerity makes it all the more ridiculous. That’s how he played the news anchor.
