Norm explaining the joke when it bombs are some of my favorite few seconds of comedy. Spade said that for most when a joke bombed in dress rehearsal for SNL, everyone else would cut it for the live show. Norm however, if he thought it was funny, would do it anyway.

There was a rumor for many years that Richard Geer had to go to the emergency room and have a gerbil removed from his rectum. There was a sort of a weird thing going on back then where people would tie a string to a gerbil and then somehow insert it into their butt. Apparently it was supposed to be some kind of sexual thrill as the gerbil struggled and wiggled around. There are a couple of verified cases where the string broke. Richard Geer is supposed to be one of those. I don’t know for sure, but Family Guy roasted Geer over it. 😂
