I’ve been to the Anderson window plant before. It’s very interesting to see it all done. I also got to shoot a 2x4 through a door in their testing facility

That 2x4 cost more than the window!

I believe I shot 8" per hour of rain... Where I live in the Philippines.. I was right next to a 20 story building.. This was in the daytime... When it was raining hard I could only see about 5 story

On the other side of the atlantic the edges also contain a desicant to absorb any moisture. Perhaps the USA will catch up one day...
@GoodEggGreg3 жыл бұрын
Oh the US has that too, but it costs more, so these vinyl window companies go with the cheaper alternative.

I work at ODL, here in Zeeland Mi. We make Pella, Anderson, Western Reflections, Blink Custom windows. We push out 50k units a week, 8k is nothing.

This is irony as a contractor I live near, ordered some A Series ($30K worth) and the order was screwed up. $900 for two pieces of Forest Green trim...that I saw the specs for, and the order was over-sized. Either the Andersen rep can't read, or the factory can't read. The exterior trim is made of some composite with embedded flange...no way to trim it down to fit...now the contractor has to deal with getting the part again, and holding the job up. How is it that a company that big, doesn't yet automate with robotics?

I have to say, the current This Old House episodes are really starting to lose their way quickly, compared to the old episodes before they were sold to Roku. So much time in the shows is wasted on dressing up into costumes, cute skits with useless phone call banter about directions and getting lost, etc. It honestly just wastes so much time in an already short show. It’s highly irritating. Also, stay in New England, like you used to! There are plenty of classic homes here that need help.
