Was falling behind in my Mech. of Materials class. What are the odds that this would be up the same month? Thanks so much, you really saved me. Great explanations.

Should'nt the depth of the Flange be 3m . when u calculated Force resultant you took the area of flange as 29 mm x 60mm but the stress is acting sideways tht means that the area should be 20 mm x 3 m or 3000 mm . No ??

shouldn't the compressive force also include the force from the neutral axis down to the top of the base of the beam (30-20) that is on the vertical section?
@structurefree10 жыл бұрын
we're calculating the normal stress at the very bottom of the cross-section, which is 30 mm from the neutral axis.
@Shawn1998167 жыл бұрын
structurefree wouldnt that volume on the vertical section have a force resultant that would add to the force resultant from the bottom part of the beam?
@neilr51214 жыл бұрын
@@structurefree sir, he's got a point. Care to explain why the little strip of 10mm x 20mm vertical strip not i cluded in your compressive resultant force?
@benzola48089 жыл бұрын
Awesome!
@asyrafabbas8797 жыл бұрын
Hey man, just one question. Why is your compression in the stress profile (red) isn't flipped on the left side since it is negative? Great video nonetheless! Been helping me out quite a lot! Cheers!
@amrelshamy72156 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter If you look closely you'd find out that the stress arrows are already flipped due to compression
@PrinceAbubu599 жыл бұрын
For the resultant why did you use 0.5*(Sigma1 + Sigma2)???
@csapaden9 жыл бұрын
why doesn't the I in the -my/I formula just equal 1/12*bh^3?, I just dont understand the Ady^2 part and its use
@joannanicholson25409 жыл бұрын
WarmSensations I think the reason it doesn't show up in some of the other sections, is because for a centroid located at a distance of 0 from neutral axis, (picture an I shape where centroid of bottom left is in line with the neutral axis). However, lets say the top rectangle of the I has a centroid an actual Y-distance from the N.A. Therefore only that one has a Ady^2 on it.

For the force resultant part why just calculate the compression part (30mm from neutral axis) instead of calculate the whole thing?
@imgassault9 жыл бұрын
and how you determine the top part is undergo tension and bot part is compression? structurefree
@structurefree9 жыл бұрын
imgassault depends on the internal moment.

structurefree Hahaha I figured it out just the moment I finish type the comment == Anyway thanks for your response you are much more better than my lecturer.I will like to watch all your video :)
