What do people get out of constantly saying she missed her moment…like do you want her to continue making music or not? Normani’s tone is so beautiful, she excels at ballads and rnb songs to show off her layered vocal arrangements. I’m glad she showcased it more. Love the album, it’s a short but sweet succinct masterpiece debut! There’s plenty of time for Mani to explore pop and also see more of her upbeat dancing side with visuals and when she goes on tour.

Yeah I didn’t like it. I tried to listen to it multiple times to see if it would grow on me but it didn’t personally. I know some people who enjoyed it. I feel like I liked her sound with motivation more and dancing with a stranger as well as love lies with khalid but I didn’t like wild side or any of this albums songs. I liked the production of candy paint but I hated the lyrics. I feel like if Normani had kept momentum and released this it definitely would’ve been better received. I think a part of me not liking it was cause of the long wait so it just didn’t reach my expectations you know? Hopefully she’ll continue and maybe ill enjoy her future projects more. Also wanted to add: I don’t like how her voice is edited in the songs. Like kinda robotic and it sounded flat to me if that makes sense? I think she needs to figure out what works with her tone of voice more.

I think she used up all of the budget. I know she paid $1 mil for wild side out of her own pocket & apparently she had like 2 or 3 albums I think that were scrapped & studio time is expensive so maybe rca isn’t funding anymore cause they don’t feel like they’re getting a return on their investment? Idk though maybe they could be waiting to see which song is received the best & then release a video for that?

You’re right but the smarter thing business wise would’ve been for her to start out with pop & transitioned into r&b once she had an established fan base that would support her no matter what. Beyonce didn’t like a lot of the music she did at the beginning but she had to keep things similar to her destiny’s child sound until she was established & then she experimented with different things. Do you think Beyonce would be as successful as she is now if she had left destiny’s child & went straight to house music? It’s why Beyonces actual début Work it Out flopped cause it didn’t fit the sound her fan base from DC was used to from her. She ended up scrapping her original album with the work it out sound & did crazy in love which was received in a great way. Normani could’ve pumped out a few pop projects & could’ve been transitioning into r&b now but unfortunately she couldn’t. Motivation was released in 2019 she could’ve been on her 4th or 5th album by now and could’ve already been making that r&b transition she wanted and her fan base would support it cause she would’ve been more established. I know some people who like her album which is good but it’s personally not my cup of tea but I’ll keep a look out for her future projects 💕

Beyonce decided to go last with her album cause it was supposed to be Michelle, Kelly, & the Beyonce but Kelly got a big hit with Dillema & Beyoncé’s work it out didn’t do good & they were testing the waters with that song cause Beyonce originally wanted to do songs that sounded like that & even a bit of neo soul but since work it out didn’t do well she decided to scrap her original idea & they decided to let kelly go with her album first so Beyonce would have more time to re work on her debut.

Then she announced her album with an official cover but in february of 2024 to only get a single ft Gunna in late mars or early may. Everything became confusing and lackluster as far the rollout. No one is popular or in the spotlight forever. 2019 was Normani’s moment, if she dropped an album them it would have done better. The half a decade wait killed her career.

I think they’re now focusing on sabrina cause ari had a bit of a down fall. At first they were concerned with Ari so they never paid much attention to Sabrina cause they were kinda similar. Now that all that mess has happened with Ari and I honestly think Ari isn’t as passionate, they wanna prop Sabrina up. I prefer Ariana’s music though and her voice always sent me to the heavens.

I can't really get into Tinashe like that. There's maybe one or two songs of gees that I actually like. I do think that a good portion of the TikTok audience will play tf out of that song and won't listen to the rest of her music. However, there ARE some people on TikTok who WILL listen to it and then listen to other music from her. As far as Normani's new album, I do like it. It does blend well. Maybe a little too well because some of it sounds repetitive. But I like most of it. I don't like all of them and I never cared for that song she has with Gunna. But I do agree it's a pretty solid album.

Tinashe's discography is actually pretty 🔥! She has soooo much good material it's insane. If you like Normani's new album then you would love Tinashe's Nightride mixtape/album. Nightride has a dark moody vibe and really good lyrics to match. RCA wanted it to be more pop sounding so they wouldn't release it as an album technically. Tinashe still released it but RCA marketed more like a mixtape (I still say it's an album). She released Joyride a few years later which was her last album on that label. I think Normani should actually have Tinashe on a remix since she's really good at dark moody and vibey songs like the ones on Normani's album. And they would eat the choreo up! And then Tinashe could put Normani on the Nasty remix! Normani and Tinashe have already worked together in the past (Tinashe wrote 2 songs on a Fifth Harmony album). Tinashe's song Nasty is predicted to move up 20 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 from number 90 to number 70. And it looks like it's going to keep going up the charts further based on how viral it's become. If Normani is smart she will start jumping on other people's songs and remixes to increase her visibility since she doesn't have much promo herself and draw in their fan base. Her album is out so now she just needs to promote it and keep herself in people's view. Her album is solid so now she has to get the general publics attention so that they can hear it too.

I like Normani, but Dopamine is not an R&B. I call it a "Hipster" album. And I call it that because it's like pseudo-R&B that's putting trap and hip hop in the forefront and her she's not putting her vocals full forward really on it other than a few songs. Honestly, I was disappointed. Recycled trap beats where most songs sound the same and ratchet lyrics. Normani is and can be so much more than that.
